If the Chiefs do end up with the # 1 pick..

I hope they take Rey Maualuga, Middle Linebacker, USC.

The Chiefs defense has a lot of young talented players but they do not have an emotional leader on the field.

currently listed as 6'2" 250+ lbs

Mecca will be along shortly to tell us you don't draft a right tackle with the #1 pick...

And he'd be right. Especially for this team. It has to be a QB. Absolutely, positively.

We can find a RT through other means. IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE.

Hall of Fame quarterbacks who were active in 1980 or later, and their draft round:

Troy Aikman - 1st round
Terry Bradshaw - 1st round
John Elway (despite salary cap cheating) - 1st round (by the Colts)
Dan Fouts - 3rd round
Bob Griese - 1st round
Jim Kelly - 1st round
Dan Marino - 1st round
Joe Montana - 3rd round
Warren Moon - Undrafted (racists!)
Steve Young - 1st round (supplemental draft)

Unless you're really lucky or are willing to buck apartheid, you pretty much need to take the 1st round gamble to get a Hall of Fame quarterback.

And yeah, there are busts in the first round, too. There are busts at every position, though. Life is one big gamble.

I think we are all forgetting that if Carl is still here, it wont matter who we draft 1st overall because he wont get them signed till the 8th week of the season. He would never give up the $60 million + needed to sign a QB #1 overall.

Aundray Bruce. I don't recall if he was ILB or OLB, but I think OLB.

Pretty sure he was outside. He was also a huge ****ing bust.

And the people who think that we should draft Colt McCoy or Sam Bradford with that pick. No...just no.

The spread doesn't work in the NFL, and receivers don't get 5 yards of separation or have corners play 12 yards off of them.

Even if we have to trade down to make the value make sense, we have to get a QB with our top selection.
