So, you’re the coach

Going against Buffalo for the divisional. You have made some offensive adjustments in the past two weeks that seem to be working. What offensive plays do you take out of the play book for this game?

Number one for me is anything long to Hardman or MVS.

Andy needs to challenge the interior offensive line and Pacheco and tell them that every 3rd and 1 will be a run up the middle and it’s their job to win the line of scrimmage and get that yard.

It’s a mindset.

Outside zone runs should have been out of the playbook some time ago.

I'd probably have a load of plays in that involve motion into a 4 by 1 formation (the stuff Romo called the "2018 plays"), see if their linebackers can actually adjust in zone against that

Sit MVS and Toney
Sprinkle in two back sets with Pacheco and CEH to attack their injured linebacker corps underneath and give Pat a release valve with dumpoff passes

Defensively I would try to keep Allen in the pocket and blitz in the A and B gaps in key situations on 2nd down to prevent them from gaining short yardage and going for it on fourth.

Every play called should be Kecle at the sticks in the middle of the field. He then turns and gains as many yards as he can before he laterals it 15 yards to Rice who runs for the TD.

Those backup linebackers are going to be sitting ducks if Buffalo gets cute with too many exotic disguised defenses and three safety looks. Coach will probably have to simplify the defense and go with bend-but-don't-break. So this game comes down red-zone offensive execution and time of possession. Historically Andy Reid has been one of the best red-zone offensive coordinators in football and the only reason they're struggling now is penalties and self-inflicted wounds. If they keep doing what they've been doing and just clean up the bullshit penalties (no picks, no false starts, no blocks in the back, no cute lofted interceptions) they'll break the buffalo's scheme before the first half and force Mcdermott to get creative.

Totally. Typical Andy is to try it once early and if it doesn't work, don't ever try it again until he is trying to bleed clock in the 4th.

Dodson has, apparently, been a surprising stud this year, but the rest of the group looks suspect without Milano. We need to target them one way or another.

I wouldn't mind running with Pacheco for 3 downs if we get 1st and goal on the 5 or shorter again. Vs. a bunch of b/u LB's and a fairly weak run defense we should be able to hammer Pacheco in there.

I'm not saying every time - but at least once...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

My husband keeps saying that he would love to see Patrick throw the long ball, but I'm okay with the short passes as long as we keep getting first downs.

Anywho, whatever we're doing in the red zone needs to change. I love Butker, but field goals aren't going to win us any championships. We need touchdowns. I'm admittedly not big on knowing plays, but, if Andy wants to get a little fancy, I say go for it, especially if it gets the ball in the endzone.

It sure seemed to win the Pats a ton of SB's...

I guess I could see it working for us with our defense. I would just like to watch a game where we jump ahead and stay ahead. Way ahead. I want to be jumping around celebrating, not pacing the floor and covering my eyes...lol. Wishful thinking, methinks.

The Wildcat stuff makes me nervous, but its working so keep it I guess.. I am thinking Pacheco throws a pass soon, but I hope they don't try that in freezing conditions.
