Doesn't this all just feel like 2011 all over again?

Coming off an unexpected division title, the Chiefs stroll into 2011 and lose to the Bills 41-7, then follow that up with a 45 point loss to Detroit. All of a sudden the reports start coming in that there's major trouble between Pioli and Haley all the way down, and the rest is history.

Any possibility a similar situation is playing out again? I just can't figure out why Reid looked so uninspired on Sunday. If nothing else we know the dude is a competitor. No fire from him at all. I don't know, the similarities are striking enough I figured it was worth posing the question.

Oh sure, we can point to this game and slam Reid, he deserves it for the playcalling and preparation and everything else that went wrong.

But its the players that play the game and this bunch of vets we have here should be held to a higher standard as well... I simply never see any FIRE out them, other than maybe one or two outbursts from Albert in the past.

That goes for Smith too, its about time he started showing some ****ing passion out there as well.

Fact is, this vet core hasnt bought into anything ANYONE was selling, or so it would seem.

That loss to the Colts broke them.

They have bought into the Chiefs curse and now they just want their money!

Passion for the game, the will to win, personal pride... NO coach can instill that.

Think Belichek has to remind Brady to get pissed and chew some ass when everyone is out there ****ing up?

Did Billick or Harbaugh have to do anything special to ensure that Ray Lewis was a white hot ball of emotion on gameday?

Players play the game.

DJ was the first out of the lockerroom once Denver beat KC for a second time last season.

On offense... Well, you'd guess it would be the QB but Alex is clearly not cut from any sort of leadership cloth considering how easy it was for Harbaugh to jettison him from San Fran.

Not sure what you're trying to say in the first sentence.

And I will say that I've always loved guys like DJ and Tamba, but that doesn't mean I'm going to look the other way or just shut up when it often feels like they aren't atleast as emotionally invested in the damn game as I, joe fan, am.

No, I'm not talking about a bunch of silly penalties or ranting and throwing a helmet every time something goes wrong... but I am saying that they definitely often do seem to be lacking ANY kind of angry and vocal leadership qualities.

They're both individually great players, but that doesn't mean they have great leadership traits... and to be honest, the same goes for Berry IMO.

Guys who let their play do the talking are fine, but this team needs a few emotional sparkplugs... I've said it for years and will keep saying it until we have a few.

The 2013 offseason felt like 2009.

The 2013 season felt like 2010.

This season feels like 2011, but I have a feeling it's going to end like 2012.

It CAN be turned around, but WILL it be? I'm not so sure... somethings seems to be missing this year, the same guys that gave Luck all he could handle in the playoffs now look like they're mailing it in.

I thought that loss might toughen them up and strengthen their resolve, and they ALL TALKed like it would... yet they still came out and laid down at home for an inferior opponent just like they always used to.

You think that maybe seeing what happened this offseason ... valuable players being allowed to walk and replaced with nothing but internal options... getting worse while other teams they compete with made major moves... might have had SOME impact on their resolve?

I mean, Dorsey mailed in the offseason. Why shouldn't his player mail in the season itself?
