****Official Apology Thread*****

It's time for everyone to own up.

Did you give Whitlock shit for making up the Egoli stuff? It's mea culpa time.

Did you defend the Cassel trade and contract? Own up.

Did you excuse the Tyson Jackson pick? It's time to pay the piper.

Did you claim McCluster was Wes Welker/Devin Hester? Accept your lashings.

Did you excuse 2009 as an evaluation year? Confess your sins

Did you absolve Pioli of his coaching hires? Prostrate yourself.

Did you make the argument that Pioli was beyond reproach because he's the GM, former executive of the decade? It's time to eat shit.

Let he who is without sin throweth the first rock. And I shalt smoketh it.

------------------------------------------------------------

This space is reserved for my apology in thinking Vernon Gholston was an elite NFL pass rusher and Jimmy Clausen could be a franchise QB. Near Pioli levels of fail.

Absolutely, I did. I don't blame Pioli one bit for the impression he gave Whitlock. He was educated on JWhit's stance in advance and didn't give him the time of day. Who cares what Whitlock thinks?

Absolutely not. I was happy they didn't spend another 1st round pick on him but I thought this was mostly how it would turn out. I just didn't think he would be quite this bad.

No. I couldn't understand why we took him there anyway. I didn't want him even if we gave a 2nd rounder for him.

Quote:

Nope. Couldn't understand the pick, still don't. Was hoping for the best. Would be okay with it if he were a 4th round selection or later.

Sure. Why not?

Quote:

Why not? His hires have made sense each time. They just didn't work out for various reasons. Sometimes you're going to have personality issues. Sometimes a coach peaks at the coordinator spot. Not every hire is going to be Bill Parcells. Even Bill Parcells wasn't a good hire at some of his stops.

The fat lady still hasn't sung on Pioli. Even if he hires McDaniels (which I do not advocate) and we go 1-15 in year one, the team may become competitive in following years. The NFL is a fickle business. NFL "experts" look foolish all the time. Elvis Grbac was within a stone's throw of taking the Chiefs deep into the playoffs. There are no absolutes or guarantees in the NFL. That's why it is the best sport by a wide margin.

Did anyone really seriously defend the contract? I know I wasn't in love with the trade but thought it was defensible prior to the contract. I'm still not sure how the contract hasn't sunk Pioli.

I liked McCluster, and I wanted to draft Clausen or Sanchez.

Other than that, I am in the clear.

The Patriots Way is Tom Brady. Everything else associated with the concept is hubris.

Whilock, I poo-pooed, as the Waters story came up. But I will not eat poo-poo for poo-pooing Fatback. He can sling more shit than Big Man did at the KC Zoo, back in the day.

I'm guilty on the Whitlock issue. But he's a quitter and a liar. Not a single **** was given.

I'm also guilty of absolving Pioli and the coaching hires/fires. THAT one you may lay at my feet.

None of those are my sins. I was for Pioli for King Carl's replacement since 2005. The travesty of the 2009 draft and the Haley hire notwithstanding............ I'm not ready to give up on him.

Where did all those multi-thousand post threads come from if no one, save for about eight people, were ever wrong about anything in the last three years?

Of course Kurt Cobain goes and blows his head off so his apology is moot.
