So you agree that they're both violations.

A violation is a violation....is a violation.

Not that I give a single **** about the dress code policy, but Pestilence is absolutely right. Both are violations, both should be fined. I've seen them fine guys for breaking the dress code to raise awareness for a cause or disease. The guys happily paid the fine. He should have been fined.

I'm inclined to forgive the "I cant breathe" shirts, theres something there worth talking about IMO... its the continued use of "hands up" thats really wearing thin.

The NFL is expected to fine Marshall $5,250 this week for violating the league's uniform rules by wearing green shoes in last Thursday night's game against the New York Giants, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, and the receiver has vowed to match the NFL's fine with a donation to charity.

During a month in which many NFL players are wearing pink shoes, gloves and wristbands to support breast cancer awareness, Marshall wore green in support of his own foundation, which focuses on mental illness.

Marshall was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder in 2010.

I suggest that every defensive player does this to Peyton Manning until it becomes worthy.

Its tricky, but I'm just not a huge fan of NFL teams making political statements... I do believe that the owner, players and overall team represent their entire city/fanbase and not just one particular segment representing one particular view.

The people that dont agree with their statements are also atleast partly responsible for paying their salaries through ticket sales, tv viewership, merchandise, stadium taxes etc. So it just doesnt seem right for players to make these kind of statements, even if I happen to agree with atleast one of them.

They're able to go protest and support a given cause in any number of ways when not in uniform, thats their right as Americans... but when you represent an entity thats beholden to the general public, I dont think you should have those same rights. Kinda like the military, go say what you want but you better not do it in uniform.

Goodell is a coward, easily the worst commish of my lifetime... and yeah, really ever.

No problem with the fine. He violated the rule by going below the knee.

But to not fine or flag Miller was criminal.

I'm sure if Nike were to give the NFL $100M and become their official greens shoe, the NFL would be all over that.
