What is Chiefsplanet's take on marijuana?

This is purely out of curiosity. I'm just wandering what the majority here think about marijuana.

Do you think it's good or bad for adults to smoke it?

Do you think it's harmful in our society?

Do you think it should be illegal?

If you think it should be kept illegal, what are your reasons for that?

What reasons do you think it is currently illegal for?

gateway drug is a clever term.. cigarettes were my "gateway". In a way.. marketing/TV is the real gateway. I actually quit drinking and am strictly smoke... My life is now filled with less bad decisions and a lot more productivity and happiness.

Willie Nelson is a huge idiot. lol everyone's brain is a completely different factory.. it works for some, it doesn't work for others. But yeah if you're not filthy rich and have to work for a living to support other people, drugs and alcohol are usually never a good choice... but even then it's a matter of individual responsibility and the ability to function.

That's fine. That's their right.

Some jobs test some don't. Give the person the choice to use or not use and the employer the choice on who they want to hire...

I'm for decriminalizing marijuana. We've been told for so long its bad and holds no medical value as studies proved wrong. You can't get cancer from smoking marijuana. You can't die from smoking too much. In the decades of marijuana use there has not been 1 recorded death over using marijuana. We sure seen plenty of deaths over cig use in the last few decades, but not 1. Let me say that again. NOT 1 death. Can't even get a heart attack from it. It helps people with asthma as most would expect it to do the opposite if someone had asthma. Sure monkey's died and lost a lot of brain cells over studies of marijuana. If you look at the studies they suffocated the monkeys with smoke for 6 straight minutes. After 4 minutes without oxygen your brain is badly damaged and most likely dead after 6 minutes without oxygen. The government used trickery to sway the public opinion over marijuana for the last 8 decades.

Literally the only problem I have with pot is the smell. I can't stand the smell. It makes me nauseous. The only down side I can see to making it legal is that I'd have to smell it more often.

Everyone talks about this isn't fair, and that isn't fair, but nobody really cares about what isn't fair unless it isn't fair to them. Ya dig?

The comparison of pot vs. alcohol goes way back. But it's a fact that pot is much, much better for you than alcohol is. It's hypocritical. I feel like I'm being more responsible by smoking pot vs. drinking alcohol yet I could go to jail for it.

That's lunacy as far as I'm concerned. At least level the playing field and outlaw all of it. Otherwise leave me the **** alone.

I've embraced the late William F. Buckley's position...the cost-benefit rationale of prohibition is no longer reasonable and rationale, therefore legalize and regulate the shit out of it. Oh yeah, and tax the crap out of it too. Like it or not, it probably deserves a place alongside alcohol and tobacco as taboo, but legal, substance that people choose to use...and could really end up fugging up their own lives--if that's what they choose, then that's their problem. .
but the govt HAS studied it. hell all the way back to nixon. he commisioned a study, just like most presidents, on what different drugs effects are on people. the study came back that marijuana shouldnt be illegal. didnt matter

Don't even know where to start. So many misguided opinions from some truly intelligent people it is just really is kinda sad. So I will just bunch up a few random thoughts...

Alcohol, caffeine, nicotine are all the true gateway drugs. You don't need to feel a physical effect from something for it to be a mind-altering substance. Ha! Don't make any money off putting people in prisons? So I guess this PRIVATE prison industry is just in the game for? Oh yeah, to make money. The U.S. has the largest private prison system in the world funded and hired by our Govt. through our tax dollars. When you make money off of putting people in jail, do you really think it is just a coincidence that we just happen to have the largest prison population in the world? Even more than China, who has about 4 times the amount of people. We have about the same amount of people in prison as China and Russia combined. Pharma will always fight legalization. They cannot control the manufacture and distribution so instead they would rather keep you hopped up on Oxy's and Tabby's mixed in a few mind-altering anti-depressants to make you feel a little more happy a long the way. Oh, don't pay attention to those side effects which may include death BTW. Pharma really is here for your own good.

It's all just a bunch of bullshit. And the only people who get hurt in the long run is the general citizenry of this country.
