If the Chiefs could have their cake and eat it too?

I know this is not possible but humor me for the sake of argument. Let's suppose the chiefs could have received the trade compensation for Jared Allen (Brandon Albert and etc.) and been able to keep Jared Allen. And let's also assume that Thigpen was starter from day one this year running the spread. How many games would the chiefs had won this year?

Remember that the Chiefs defense was 13th in the league in 2007 with old corners (Law & Surtain).

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/foo..._PER_GAME.html

The Chiefs offense has averaged 23 points a game since the spread has been implemented, which would have put the Chiefs with an offense in the top half of the league if they had been running it all year and been able to produce the same results. So, it is feasible to concieve that the chiefs could have been in the top half of the league in both offense and defense.

Hell, let's suppose that Hank Stram was still the coach and that Derrick Thomas was still alive and playing.

You know, for the sake of argument.

A more likely scenario might be just keep Jared Allen and draft Clady instead of Dorsey.

No. I doubt Jared Allen would have made THAT much difference (improving the defense into the top half of the league). Coaches and certain players were exposed this year, unfortunately.

Let's suppose that Godzilla has destroyed the entire cities of Denver, San Diego, and Oakland. And let's suppose that Superman had sex with a vampire, and the resulting offspring was drafted by the Chiefs to play QB. Now let's suppose that Herm had his mind erased, and replaced with the consciousness of a Bill Walsh clone that had been grown in a laboratory and had been playing Madden every day for 10 years.

Do you think with all that happening, that the Chiefs could win the AFC West?

I don't know if they would have won the west or not, but it could have been close with how bad the west has been. The point of the argument is to see how good people think the Chiefs would have been with one additional player. How good can the Chiefs be with a few additional players next year if they find someone like Jared Allen?

they were 13th in 07 with inferior corners. So, it is very possible that they could repeat that performance.

In this fantasy world, was Herman Edwards still the coach ?

If so, the best you could of hoped for was "average", even in this fantasy ladi-da football world you've proposed.

With hindsight being 20/20, I really wish this is what we would have done.

I'm amazed at how many people think this was a good trade and Jared has more sacks than our whole team, plus most Chiefs fans wanted to trade Tony G for a 3rd round pick earlier this year.

I disagree. I think Jared Allen did have that much of an impact on this team. Look at our defensive rankings and how neatly they fit with arrival, ascension, and departure of Jared Allen...he covered up for a lot of this team's (and Gunther's) lack of skill...

We could have kept Allen, still got Albert, and had an additional first round pick in this years draft.

We could have done the Allen trade, still got Albert, and had an extra 2nd round draft pick in last years draft, and 2 first rounders in this years draft, if we would've taken the Saints and Panthers up on their offers to trade up last year (Saints wanted to trade up to our #5 and Panthers to our #17).

That Dorsey pick has cost this ball club a lot thus far.
