Boehner says he will not pass a clean bill from Reid

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) insisted Thursday that the government would not shut down, but he also flatly refused to pass a "clean" spending bill to keep Uncle Sam in business next week when the bank account runs dry.

"I do not see that happening," Boehner told reporters on Capitol Hill after meeting with Republican legislators.

The House passed a measure last week to fund the government after Sept. 30 only if Democrats agree to strip spending from Obamacare. The Senate is in the process of removing the health care defunding and plans to send a simple spending bill back to the House by this weekend. That bill would keep the government running until Nov. 15.

Boehner declared, "I don't expect" the government to close. But he did not explain how he and his Republican caucus could amend the Senate bill, debate it, vote on it and send it back to the Senate for more action there before Oct. 1.

"There will be options available to us," Boehner said. "There's not going to be any speculation about what we're going to do or not do until the Senate passes their bill."

On the subject of budget you should take a pass. "Raising the debt ceiling will not increase our debt"

I find it hard to care how long the government may be shut down. The longer the better. This might be the only circumstance where the government stops expanding for a few moments.

1) I have never posted that
2) Raising the debt ceiling does not increase the debt just like taking out overdraft protection does not raise your debt. It does, however, provide a mechanism through which additional debt can accrue.

In what world is posting erroneous information that mistakes the meaning of words "shooting holes in an argument"?

Where is this "erroneous information"? It would only be "erroneous information", because you live in your own little lost world, so I suggest you come down out of your ivory tower, and open up your eyes, and mind. I said Obummer hasn't had a budget, and he hasn't, because none of them have been passed. They were nothing more than ideas, that were never put into service. Members of his own party even voted his budgets down. You are a libtard deluxe, and think Obummer can do no wrong, when in reality, he can do very little, if anything right. Look at our debt, look at Obummer Careless, the Benghazi scandal, the IRS scandal, the NSA scandal, and so on. The writing is on the wall, and it's not pretty for the Dumbocrats. They are already saying that Obummer Careless will cost the Dems votes in 2014, so what does that say? Your little world of socialism is failing, and crumbling down all around you, so keep on deflecting while it continues to get worse.

What opinion polls?

This one? Doh! No, not that one. That one has President Blinky getting slammed by the American public.

Maybe this one? Nope, not that one either. That one has President Blink getting slammed by the very people who put him in office, and peeling off independents like they were trousers in the Clinton oval office.

I'm not sure what polls you think should concern me right now. The only one that counts moving forward is the one happening in 2014, and we both know that Democrats don't vote during mid-terms.

When Speaker Boehner hands Ted Cruz the trophy of a year delay on the individual mandate, we'll see who knows nothing...

A full year is too long and would (IMO) backfire. It puts Obamacare "out of sight, out of mind" for MOST of the American public until AFTER the election. That strategy would leave me scratching my head wondering what was possibly gained by it. Their are much better concessions that support Cruz's long term strategy.

I've thought about it, and I disagree that it would be out of sight out of mind - but I hear about it every day from my wife who works in HR, so who knows. I initially liked your idea of 6 months, but I think once you get the trojan horse behind the wall of Troy, you can't get it out. I think the only real option to stopping it is to delay it a year and then make the November 2014 a referendum on the stuff and let the American people decide.

Frankly, I think the Republicans win that fight easy. Midterm elections are typically Republican elections - Obama voters don't show up for mid term stuff. I don't think repealing it will be all that difficult (relatively speaking) once the individual mandate gets delayed.

You are living in a dream world.

In what states do the Republican Party pick up 60 seats in the Senate?

In 2014 how did you convince Obama to not veto his signature piece of legislation of his Presidency?

You're the stupid one, since you obviously voted for Obummer, and helped lead this once great nation into a mess that we may never recover from. 10 out of 10 idiots support Obama. Now, go away, and get lost some where.

Maybe 2014 would be a good time to do away with the filibuster. What do you think?
