**The Obamacare Shitfest thread**

At the rate this thing is falling apart I figures it's time for a game-style thread for this abortion of a law.

This is what we get from lawmakers who don't even read the law...

1. Web site crashes...no one tested it
2. Insurance policies being canceled even after Obama stated multiple times you can keep your insurance if you like it
3. Valerie Jarrett says blame the insurance companies
4. Insurance companies say "we are just following the law"
5. HHS neutered the "Grandfather" clause with multiple regulations
6. Jay Carney tells us what the President "really meant" and that we were all just too stupid to "get it"
7. IRS knew as soon as 2010 that over 50% of individual insurance policy holders would lose coverage
8. Men are being forced to carry "maternity coverage"
9. Women who cannot get pregnant are being forced to carry "maternity coverage"
10. We keep getting told this is "affordable" yet deductible seem to be going up as well as premiums on balance
11. The Fed Gov won't tell us how many people have actually signed up
13. Obama knew nothing about any of it

It was a junk plan. & you should kiss the feet of Obama for fixing it for you.

Mr. Plow it looks like the plan you looking at is not the same as your current plan. I don't see that your Deductibles are the same, copays are the same, or you prescriptions. It is close though. If I am reading this right your prescription deal on the new plan looks alot better.

My advice though is once the website is fixed I would check out the rates there you might find a better deal.

Here is my original post #1:

And post #2 with plan details:
Based on the info given, I can't tell why it doesn't qualify.
These are the "essential health benefits" a plan must have. There's probably some other criteria that must be met, but I don't recognize where anything comes up short in the info you listed. Probably just need to ask the insurance carrier if you really want to know the specific reason(s).

1.Ambulatory patient services
2.Emergency services
3.Hospitalization
4.Maternity and newborn care
5.Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment
6.Prescription drugs
7.Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices
8.Laboratory services
9.Preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management
10.Pediatric services, including oral and vision care

I should have clarified.

The two plans listed were plans that I can choose from NOW. The plan on the left is essentially the same plan I currently have (but have to resign up for). The only differences I've been able to see between my current plan & the plan on the left is that there is no lifetime max & my kids can be on it until they are 26. Add to the fact that the price of the plan on the left is exactly the cost of what I'm paying now and it's baffling as to why I need to switch.

The plan on the right is the next step up plan from the one on the left. $40 extra a month, but some of the copays & prescription stuff is going to make me pay the extra because I'll save the difference in a year just from some of the prescriptions.

So if I have no intentions of having anymore children and the children I have are grown adults why would I need to have #4 & #10?

Thanks, just wanted to get some opinions on it as Plan 1 is exactly my current plan and it struck me as odd that I have to sign up for the same plan that was cancelled. I may give them a call just out of curiosity sake to see if they'll tell me "It was because your plan didn't cover XXXX" or whatever.

On your clarification above, you mentioned the age 26 provision and the lifetime cap. That could be the difference that DQ'd your plan. If you had the plan prior to the 2010 cut-off date, then it would be grandfathered.

I've had the plan since 2007 (or 06).

As to those two provisions (coverage to 26 & lifetime cap) - wouldn't that immediately disqualify all (or a majority) current insurance plans?

Ok that makes sense.

Unless you buy alot of drugs I would go with the one on the left. Lower deductible and your coinsurance maximum is alot smaller as well as your out-of-pocket maximum.

I am curious has your premium increased alot in the last couple of years? Any change in coverage like dropping a procedure?

If not you should call them I would love to know what they say.

If it is truly the same plan (there hasn't been any major changes in coverage/benefits) then it would be grandfathered and the age 26 and cap rules wouldn't be required--that's where Obama got "if you like your plan you can keep it." If you had it when the law was enacted without the insurance co. making major changes to it, then you can actually keep it.

Looks like you're back to having to ask them to explain.

You wouldn't need it, but including it in everyone's plan spreads the risk. Women are chipping in if you get prostate or nut cancer or have a heart attack (which is far more common for men).
