I'm sure this has been asked in another post but where do the people who can't afford health care in the first place magically come up with the money now that bum **** barry waved his turd wand again?

Supposedly, the subsidy will directly deduct from the premium. You just pay the leftover to the insurance company.

There actually is some benefit to having tax dollars pay for it, but not enough for me to support socialized health care. What is the #1 reason health care is so high right now as it is? Because you subsidize broke people who don't pay for it. When a bum heads to the emergency room and racks up 15k of charges, you think he's going to pay for it? Hell no. Who do you think pays for it? You do, the paying customer. That cost is passed along to you, because the doctor/hospital isn't going to get the collection from the bum. Same for illegal immigrants, people with 29 kids who can't afford them. They aren't paying their health bills. That is passed along to you, so, at least, they have to pay for some of it now if they have any sort of an income at all.

Broke people are subsidized in every other developed country (via UHC) and they pay about half what we do per capita for health care. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...PP)_per_capita

The number one reason healthcare it is so high in this country is because doctors and hospitals have all the pricing leverage. The biggest driver keeping costs down in this country is Medicare - because the govt, inefficient as it is, is big enough to have real pricing leverage.

http://content.healthaffairs.org/content/22/2/230.full

Quote:
Over the past three decades both Medicare and private insurers have initiated cost containment mechanisms to control the growth of spending on personal health care. To compare spending growth between these two payers, we present four measurement principles that should be implemented when drawing such comparisons, and we apply them to the National Health Accounts data files. We attribute Medicare’s ability to equal—and using our measures, actually exceed—the private sector in controlling the rate of health spending growth to Medicare’s ability to price aggressively for the services it covers.

Medicare can be counted on to control per enrollee spending growth over time, more than private insurers can.
