Abortion carries McAuliffe to victory

Exit Polls from Virginia. 92% of voters chose one of 3 issues as most important:

Economy (45%): Cucinelli +6
Healthcare (27%): Cucinelli +4
Abortion (20%): McAuliffe +25

While the Tea Party is taking the blame (whatever that is), the problem is actually the social conservatives right now. Cuccinelli probably wouldn't have gotten my vote. I think I would have voted for Sarvis.

I think the Tea Party is a sinking ship because of the social conservatives. On the other hand, I think that the libertarians and the establishment may be able to find enough common ground in due time. The question is whether they can win elections without the social conservatives, who talk of splitting to the constitutionalist party.

It's humorous that you continue to offer predictions considering you are the CoMo of politics.

Yup!

What social conservatives need to start doing is changing people first.

Again this shows the power single women hold on the political system. Cucinelli rolled to huge margins with married women voters yesterday but single women opposed him even more. As more women choose to stay single or are forced to stay that way, the Democrats will benefit.

It's not that we're choosing to be single...the quality of men has dropped.

That pdf is a great chunk of information, if exit polls are to be believed. I see that black people voted overwhelmingly for McAuliffe. Any ideas as to why that happened?

Obama campaigned there for him.

I think this explains it well:

Blacks vote Democrat in every election, they even went 91-9 against Reagan in his 1984 landslide.
