An interesting hole in evolutionary theory (as we understand it)

I came across this in my travels tonight, and thought it might make for an eye-brow raiser...

The long and short of it - some researchers decided to reverse apply Moore's Law to human biology. Using their Moore's Law-based computations, they first applied it to modern computers, and came up with the right answer - that microchips showed up right around the 1960's.

They then took the same computations and applied it to biological complexity (which, of course, humans are the pinnacle of as we know it). The results suggest that life began 5 billion years before the Earth even existed...

What it really means, who knows... The researchers who ran the computations refused to call it a theory and instead label it a "thought excersize" (the cowards!). In any case, it's pretty damned interesting.

The article can be read here:

I don't expect you to read the article I just linked to. Your post suggests that you don't read a lot.
This article has been debunked many times over. All cases they mention fit the definition of micro evolution. If your reading comprehension was better you wouldn't have fallen for the the fancy tree charts. Sometimes you have to dig past the pictures to realize that their argument is false.

I googled it and couldn't find it. Do you recall the guy's name?

Look up Eugene McCarthy and he's from Georgia, not Colorado. My mistake.

Well, I'd say you're right but has been repeated ad nauseum in this forum. To my knowledge there's been no hard real world experiments to inconclusively prove macro. Some genetic scientist student put one up but it still relied on extrapolation that it was plausible. Still needs more imo.

Yeah, the Catholic Church did nothing to suppress science.

You know what's really sad? It's that under duress, Galileo recanted. He begged forgiveness from the Catholic Church for daring to say that the earth revolved around the sun, and declared it to be an error on his part.

Now tell me again: WHO was being authoritarian? It sure as hell wasn't the scientist.
You should have saved yourself the time because your links are meaningless to me. I said: "There's plenty of myth about the suppression of science by the Catholic Church out there too. Particularly on Galileo." I never specified what on Galileo, nor claimed parts were untrue, but that didn't prevent you from assuming things about what I meant by that general statement. Hope you don't jump to conclusions as a scientist like that.

Here's what you are wrong about Brainiac-- even men of science have ridiculed and suppressed scientific knowledge that is new. Look what was done to Dr. Semmelweis because established scientific and medical opinions of his time were that diseases were an imbalance of the basic "four humours" whereby bloodletting was DOGMA of the day.

It's part of the nature of mankind to act like this when something challenges current orthodoxy or accepted opinions of one's day. It's called cultural lag and it doesn't just happen in religious institutions. That's the view of bigots.
