I'm going to run up a bar tab, and I expect rich guys in the town to pay it because they have more money than I do, and life has magically been good to them. I shouldn't be on the hook to pay for the beer I drink. Someone else should pay their fair share of it - meaning all of it, of course. It's only fair since they're the ones who earned the money.
