Big Time Talents, Likely Droppers

Who are your big time talents who will likely drop in the draft due to off the field issues or injury concerns that you want the Chiefs to take a hard look at in the mid to later rounds? Here are my two names that I would take a really good look at:

1. Dominique Easley, DT/DE, Florida: At 6'2" and 280 pounds, he is an undersized DT in the mold of Geno Atkins, Jay Ratliff, and Henry Melton. What makes him special is his first step, which is second to none in this draft (it's between him and Clowney), and his tenacious attitude on the field. He has a good and powerful base that allows him to hold up against larger OL players and also drive them back due to his low center of gravity. Effort wise, he compares to players like Justin Smith. Why is he going to drop? Teams may not like his lack of arm length and he has had two ACL injuries in his history so there is a medical concern as well. Look for him to fall to anywhere from the late 3rd to 5th rounds.

2. Colt Lyerla, TE/H-back, Oregon: He has good size for the position at 6'5" and 245 pounds. He was a dominant run blocker in the Oregon system and also a very good pass catcher. Athletically, he has good speed to stretch the field and can threaten defenses deep. He is not quick enough to make a lot of defenders miss, but runs violently and breaks a lot of tackles as a result of his aggressive style. He has great body control for a player of his size and very good ball skills. Stictly speaking of his talent on the field, he would be in the discussion as one of the best TEs available in this draft. All of his problems are off the field issues, pleading guilty to possession of cocaine and leaving the Oregon program early in the 2013 season. His character concerns will drop his fringe 1st round abilities to the 6th or FA range. Will take a FO that is confident in the structure and locker room of their organization to be willing to draft this player.

What players do you see that fall into this category and you wouldn't mind taking a shot at?

Cocaine use would scare me off. That is a whole different world than weed. I say find the next Houston. He was 1st round talent who dropped to 3rd round for something half the nfl probably does.

"Man, you funny!"

Easley is good, but Donald is definitely better and it's because of his first step. I will agree, though... I liked Easley last year better than I liked Sharrif Floyd.

*edit* Speaking of drugs, Casey Pachall might fall into this category.

RB: Isaiah Crowell, Alabama State, 5'11", 224 lbs, 31 3/4" arms, 9 1/4" hands.: A former Georgia standout as a Freshman who left after legal troubles and joined the Alabama State football team instead.

Overview: Physical runner who will lower his pads and run through a defender. Explosive athlete who can make defenders miss with his quickness and burst; he's a very instinctive runner who knows how to use his blocks and when to cut upfield on stretch plays. He is quicker than fast but he has enough speed to take it the distance once he gets into the secondary. He didn't catch many passes but displayed soft hands and the natural ability to catch the ball when he was asked to. He has a good understanding and awareness in pass protection. His running style really reminds me of a younger, slightly faster, but less powerful, Marshawn Lynch. If you were to just judge him based on his talent on the field alone, he would arguably be the best RB in this draft.

Why will he slip?

He got in trouble at Georgia in 2012 for 2 felony weapon charges (they were eventually dropped), failed a drug test, and was kicked off of the team because of it. Teams will also question his toughness as he failed to play through some minor injuries. His off-the-field issues should cause him to plummet in this draft and leave him off the board of many teams.

Here is his Georgia Highlights.
