Lex Luthor did heinous things without batting an eye. He played roles like a G. If he needed to be a kiss up he would be but he'd always be in control, 3 steps ahead of everyone with fail safe plans up the ying yang. This kid will not cut it.

Unfortunately nothing is ever a surprise in today's world. Most of the announcements are just to offset casting leaks. Like Vision a day or two ago.

Holly Hunter Added to Superman-Batman Cast
Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey and Tao Okamoto have joined the cast of Warner Bros.’ untitled Superman-Batman movie being directed by Zack Snyder. Mulvey was most recently seen in 300: Rise of an Empire and Okamoto appeared in The Wolverine. All three actors will play characters newly created for the film. The trio join Henry Cavill, reprising his role as Superman/Clark Kent, Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince. The studio’s announcement follows the casting of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred. Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane, who co-starred in Man of Steel, are also returning.

They've cast theater actor Ray Fisher to play Cyborg, another Justice League character. Although it sounds like he's only going to have a small role in this film. |

Pretty much seems like DC is trying to play catch up with Marvel, and saying **** it let's just jump straight to 2.0.

Pretty much. Although nearly every studio is wanting to replicate what Marvel has done. They see the $$$ in it obviously.

Yeah they're either A. Going to tell everyone's story in one 2.5 hour movie or they are going to do what Hollywood does and B. Toss a bunch of characters into the movie and rush the time and care a project like this should warrant. You have to make a movie that the comic book fans who know the backstory, and the people who don't know anything about the character can appreciate to maximize your profits. If you assume people know these characters and you don't need to give proper time and backstory to them then you're going to have a bunch of critics and average joes and janes shrugging their shoulders like you had with Watchmen. If you just throw a bunch of shit at the wall and see what sticks then you'll piss off the source material and you'll become Batman and Robin. It's a fine line, but it feels like they're rushing it. The one thing Man of Steel had going for it was how intricately they told the backstory of Krypton. Everyone knows Batman but skimping on Wonder Woman would do a female heroine of great popularity a major disservice.

Maybe they'll do it Kill Bill style - make a 3.5 hour movie and split it into two.
And Watchmen was badass, even if you hadn't read the novel. |

I really wanted to like watchmen. It wasn't bad but there didn't seem to be a whole lot of soul to it. I thought it was really awesome to look at but felt flat and was just generally long and mostly boring.

Pretty much me as well. Had some cool individual scenes, and I dig Zach Snyders style, but ultimately uneven, dull and depressing.

I'm a geek for the graphic novel, and the movie stayed very true to that. Unfortunately the story just didn't translate to the big screen well, so I get why people are pretty meh about it.
