Cops Screw Up Again

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment...led-by-police/

Apparently they killed a hostage, but they do feel bad about it.

If anything, this sounds like a VERY unfortunate accident. I don't see any evidence of abuse of authority here.

It's good to be a San Diego Cop.

SAN DIEGO -- A lawyer for 25 strippers has filed a claim with City Hall asserting that police violated the strippers' rights by detaining them and forcing them to pose for pictures.

Police officer chokes an unresisting college student until he falls unconscious

Quote:
The Knox County Sheriff's Office says they have fired the deputy involved in Saturday night's block party in Fort Sanders.

Frank Phillips, 47, has been with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office since 1992.
this is why its important that LEO's are photographed while in public and should carry body cameras. Notice the other 2 cops dont stop the officer from choking a handcuffed civilian?
Quote:
Jarod Dotson, 21, who is seen in custody in the pictures, was charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest.
without the pics, it the civilians word agains the blue wall of silence.

This incident provides a perfect example of why we are in the process of purchasing officer worn body cameras (video and audio recordings) so incidents like this will be fully documented.

So, to be clear, the profession of police officer is only "theoretically more dangerous" than a librarian?

Maybe you should actually open your eyes, go on some ride alongs, in several jurisdictions before you claim to know what frequency any police actions are happening.

Video prompts investigation into allegations of police brutality

Emily GuggenmosUpdated: Monday, April 28, 2014, 6:20 amPublished: Sunday, April 27, 2014, 10:33 pm

BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) – A shocking video is circulating on the internet and social media making viewers ask if it shows proof of police brutality by the Buffalo Police Department.

The video, taken on a cell phone, shows what appears to be a Buffalo Police officer hitting and kicking a man in handcuffs.

News 4 has been investigating this story since the video was first sent by a viewer last week. Many others have emailed links to the video telling News 4 they were outraged by what it appears to show.

The video was taken last Saturday at about 11:00 p.m. in the area of Philadelphia and Ontario Streets. It appears to show a Buffalo Police officer slapping a man who is handcuffed on the ground. The video then appears to show the officer kicking the man and then hitting him again. Viewers can hear the man in handcuffs yell, “Stop kicking me!”

Buffalo Police spokesperson Mike DeGeorge released a statement Sunday night saying, “Buffalo Police became aware of the video on Friday and Commissioner Daniel Derenda immediately ordered the Internal Affairs Division to open an investigation into the matter.”

News 4 Investigates has verified an arrest was made. News 4 interviewed the man seen being arrested and the story from his point-of-view will be shown on News 4 and WIVB.com on Monday.

first, one must define "dangerous." I contend that there are many occupations with a higher risk of fatality than LEO.

The fatal work injury rate for a LEO is ~ 4. Those fatalities are far more likely via a traffic accident than via homicide.

When it comes to non-fatal injuries, LEO's are far down on the list compared to other professions.

Go find a chart that defines "injury" versus "serious injuries"--duty-related, or not. If you do, you will still see that you are FOS. Any thoughts as to why they cannot attract "higher" quality people? I'll give you a hint--it has to do, very often, people don't want to put up with douchebags like you on a daily basis. Morons that always seem to assume the worse. Of course, that's the nature of the job...

Maybe some of these cops should man up and go about their duty without guns, tazers and mace. Probably would not be coking people with an even fight on their hands.
