Game of Thrones (spoiler-free zone)

A few have suggested it, might as well test the waters. The idea is to give people who haven't read the books a safe place to talk about the show.

A few quick ground rules:
  • No Spoilers!!!!! for upcoming episodes.
  • Larger Song of Ice and Fire discussion should be limited to the other thread although I think a tiny bit of book delving to fill in holes should be okay (example of this would be talking about Catelyn and her treatment of the wolves in the novel, which was alluded to on TV but never really made clear...)
  • Everything that happened that week is fair game once an episode airs. So if you don't watch on Sunday night, I'd stay outta here until you do...

Anyone who hasn't seen the show up to the current episode should probably stay out of this thread until they have.

The fact that it just now did that speaks to how amazing The Sopranos' run really was. There is SO much more access to HBO now.

Yes and no. It's still a subscription-based service, whether it's easier to access or not. HBOGo is basically just an alternative way to watch the million replays every show (including The Sopranos a decade ago) gets on HBO. Not to mention the incredible number of pirated viewers GoT gets.

I think the crazier thing that we haven't talked about in a while is that it's a fantasy series that's doing this. Crime drama is traditionally a much, much easier sell.

Scott free was showing up in the SPOILER thread while just starting out the show. He's spoiled all sorts of stuff for himself doing that. I just don't get why you'd ever want to know what's coming.

So I have a question, WTF is Baylon Greyjoy doing? He declared himself one of the 5 kings. He raided a few villages. He took and lost the moat. His idiot son took and promptly lost Winterfell. His dumbass daughter tired and failed to free his idiot son. You'd think he'd either quit and pledge himself to king Tommin or try to do something proactive.

Except if you have HBO you have multiple HBO GO codes so people who don't subscribe can still see it. Not that I know anything about that.....

I agree with the fantasy series point. Kinda like Walking Dead, it's fun to see heavy genre shows meeting widespread popularity.
