Let me shave you with a straight razor with your neck stretched out out like a hogs weenie. You're one sneeze away from getting a juggler cut open.
Best part is me and my wife are in separate rooms avoiding each other and I have half a neck beard. Ya know what, I'm not shaving till the morning just to piss her off more. |

Yeah, it was odd, but actually pretty terrific. I was in my 20s and had just moved into a new area. Needed a haircut, and as I was in law school at the time, I wasn't exactly shaving every day. Went into a barber shop and he was old school. Didn't even ask for it or expect it, but suddenly the chair went back, the hot towels came out along with the shaving cream and the straight edge.
And yes, you do have that moment of "holy crap, my life is literally in this guy's hands", but it was a very close shave and the hot towels were nice. I survived and lived to tell the tale.

When I lived in San Fran, there was an old school barber shop right next to the Pacific Stock Exchange on Pine Street. It was all male barbers, mostly old Italian guys in white barber's jackets and the super heavy metal chairs with the food stands for resting your feet. They gave a great haircut and finished with hot shaving cream and a straight razor. I loved that place. They also had tons of Playboy and Penthouse magazines for while you wait. Couldn't get more ol' school than that!

I've always wanted to try it, but i can't grow enough facial/neck hair to justify paying for it.
