Dee fucking Brown.
And Hicks. And Sims.

And Maybe Ty Law. I'm sick of seeing the game announcers introduce our DBs as "The most experienced, collectively, in the NFL" and then watch teams (like the MOTHERfuckING CLEVELAND BROWNS!!) pass against us.

the dude is more tired than angry. How many carries is he up to now? He has already broken the Chiefs record for carries in a season

I would cut the following:

OT- Bober, Turley and Welbourne (and Shields probably retires)
WR- Gardner
DT- Sims
DE- Hicks
QB- Huard
RB- Brown
S- Knight
CB- Sapp

In order for this to happen, the Chiefs would have to draft at least two Olinemen early and probably have to slide one of our extra tackles over to guard. We would also need to draft either a DT or a WR early to improve ourselves there which leaves the second day of the draft for a WR or DT (whichever we don't take early), a DE, a CB and a S. All possible as long as Peterless doesn't do anything stupid.

I think I would keep all of these guys unless or until we prove in training camp that someone else is better.

I'd cut:

Wesley, Bell, Hicks, Knight, Law.

I'd assume that these guys will be gone via F.A. or retirement:
Shields, Huard, Sims (we wouldn't even try to re-sign him).

Hall is fine, his blocking hasn't really been there much.

I'd try to re-sign: Mitchell, Gonzales, Tynes.

I'd concentrate in the draft on DT, OT, CB, WR.

I'd probably look in FA for an upgrade at LT and/or RT. Perhaps Terry is the answer at RT, and that would be nice if so.

I'd look at Black as a G if you can upgrade LT. I think he's a good player, I just think that he's out of position at the pro level. His arms are a little short and his lateral quickness is just average. I think he could be a fine guard.

I'd prefer to fix DT in the draft if possible, as I'd like to concentrate on getting younger there; it will need to be our strength in '08.

Bring Trent back one more year, promote Brody to #2. Another year of learning, taking the #2 snaps and hopefully putting a little weight on will ease him in.

I like Wilson at FB/H-Back. I think we could utilize him MORE, and his blocking has improved. I'd like to see more play-action passing, particularly on 1st down.

The biggest keys will be the hand-off to the young safety tandem and upgrading the DT situation. We're weak up the middle on defense, so the cover 2 style defense has been spotty.

You guys that want to draft a first round WR are being silly; nobody'd have enough time to find them downfield with our pass blocking. Fix the lines first and THEN your playmakers can make plays. If you have a good enough line, you can do just fine with only decent WR's.

I'd like to hear one good reason we should keep Mitchell.....and "we don't have anyone else" isn't a good reason.

If they're going to sign Donnie Edwards it's probably a good idea to dump him. Otherwise...HTF is out there?

We aren't winning a Superbowl next year......overpaying for an average player like Mitchell is a bad idea in general, it's a real bad idea when your team is more or less in transition.

That's just ****ing great, Mecca. We drafted him in 2003 and we dump him three years later and start over with another young guy?

I'm kinda with Mecca on this one, because then KC could slide DJ at MLB, Key Fox at WSLB, and the (pipe dream) Kris Griffin will pan out at SSLB

I think that is exactly what they are going to do. Carl gets to correct his "mistake" and stick it to Marty at the same time.

I look forward to Mecca's posts next year telling us how old and overrated Donnie Edwards is. He'll be the Ty Law of linebackers!
