Water's nearing the top of the Industrial Canal wall. Some is being blown/spilled over, but the wall is holding at this point.

Half of Waveland is supposedly underwater. Seeing as it got wiped off the face of the earth by Katrina, that has to feel pretty ****ing awful.

Looks like Gustav has lost a step. Barring a major surprise, this is going to die down to a whimper with a little inland flooding here and there due to heavy rain.

Hopefully the NOLA folks dont get complacent because of this, and they just keep evacuating every time, like Florida.

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin says half of his city is without power.

"We're still not out of the woods yet," he tells CNN. A city official tells the Associated Press that residents may be allowed to come home 24 hours after the tropical-force winds dissipate.

Nagin says they won't be able to fully assess storm-related damages until later this afternoon.

The city has been quiet since the mandatory evacuation order took effect yesterday morning.

Haha, a Parish president was trying to warn people via phone that a private levee might give way, and Wolf Blitzer shut him down just so we can watch Laura Bush speak at the RNC. That was harsh.

Good news on the Gustav was that there was little to no damage on the oli industry in the Gulf, whereas the Crude Oil went down $4 a barrel overseas.

Office Claims Rep for an insurance co. Volunteered to work today just in case. Pointless to even be there, handled 15 claims in 5 hours, below my normal production. Not sure what kind of sign that is, but it seemed like most were fallen tree, 3rd party claims. We'll see tomorrow I guess.
