LOOKS LIKE IRAN IS CHOOSING TO TIANANMEN OPTION

Watching a lot of videos of Basijis opening fire and rounding people up in the cover of darkness.

Got a bad feeling a lot of Iranians are going to disappear tonight...

If you want to understand what's going on in Iran right now, read Ayn Rand's For the New Intellectual. She paints a very clear portrait of the spiritual tyrant and their relationship with the con questing tyrant. Iran's system is a perfect marriage of her nightmare vision of government.

You could probably find the audiobook on torrents if you were so inclined.

Thank you. There are folks here that I lock horns with on political takes as well as those I agree with. But today we are all Iranians.

I just got orders last month to head to the land of the sand in October. Recent news in Iran has me fear that we'll be re-routed, troops are spread too thin already.....

NO WAY the US gets anywhere near this at least overtly. That would be the quickest way to ensure the Iranian people do a complete about face and support the government.

They will undergo a process like watching sausage being made but they will do it themselves or they will not want it done at all...

I didn't think we'd go into Iraq either, I've heard some small time military stratigists claim they believe we are in Iraq so we can someday go into Iran. Iran has been on our "poo" list for some time now, we have trade restrictions with them, we've shot down their planes (even a civilian airbus in the late 80s) we've shot missles into Iran, we encouraged and helped Iraq to envade Iran. We believe Iran has terrorist training grounds, the general civilian is outwardly fighting the government in Iran and you think the US won't help them accomplish their goal? If the Iran government continues to kill civilians, why do you think the UN/NATO/or the US won't get involved like they did in Bosnia?

Since 2005 our country has been preparing to put a military presence in Iran to prevent/stop enriching uranium and growing a nuclear weapon program, but you think we won't go in now that we may actually have the citizens on our sides? I don't mean today, I mean in 4-12 months.....

Chants you hear:

"Toop, Tahnk, Basiji, deegar asar nadarad." = Guns, Tanks, Basijis, no longer have any effect.

Gooreh Khar (or something Khar!), sheer shodeh, Basiji (something) shodeh." = "Zebra" (or jack ass) has turned into a "lion", Basiji has been (can't make it out)!

"Marg bar Diktator" = Death to the Dictator

fwiw, fyi.

I'm generally of the same opinion. But I can see them accepting American help at some point if they feel assured that it's only for humanitarian reasons and not "a gift from the Greeks." For that They would need to trust the Obama administration and for now anyway B.O. is pretty popular in Iran.

yeah, Obama's video may have had some impact on their reactions we see today, the true test will come if he can back up what he has said.

Obama is with the American government. Iranians might like him personally all they want but they will be hard pressed to trust the American government knowing there will be strings attached even with Obama.

If the Iranians have any doubt the price they may pay for allowing the Americans to 'help' all they have to do is look next door or look backwards...

No way are they that stupid.
