Eddie Royal for 14 special teams points. That's just wicked.

Bleh, they are better I thought. You can't deny how great their defense is playing.
I still think Indy Pittsburgh and the Patriots are gonna be better come playoff time but you can't deny what they have done. |

Amazing the lack of respect.
First, it was 3-0 because "they hadn't beat anyone. Dallas will beat them." 4-0. "Ah, Dallas is crappier than we thought. The Patriots will smoke 'em." 5-0. "Ah, the Patriots didn't play well, and the Broncos are really lucky. The Chargers will expose them as frauds." 6-0. Hats off, Denver. While I'm still skeptical that Orton can get you deep into the playoffs, you guys made all the right moves on defense, from hiring Nolan to your FA signings/trades. |

Not true SNR. I've seen my team give up before a game is over way too many times. This is the third week in a row that they were down 10-0 in the first quarter and ended up winning the game. And the Defense bringing heat late in the game was the key to sealing the win.
SD has a an Offense that is potentially very, very good. They show flashes of that all through every game they play. Part of it is the talent level and the coaching, a big ass chunk of that is Rivers. He's pretty damn good. The guy has freakish awareness and mental speed. He's tough, he's smart, he makes plays. I can see how his play might demoralize a more weak minded Defense. |

1) Players aren't well-conditioned and their bodies can't keep up for an entire game 2) Players can't keep up for an entire game because their offense/coaching decisions put them in that unfortunate position 3) Players just happen to make a bad play. It happens when you have bad players on your team. I mean, compare last year's defense to this year's defense. There are all kinds of position changes. One of the only constants has been the playing level of Dumervil and Bailey who are (surprise surprise) good players 4) Bad play-calling/bad game planning/not making appropriate game adjustments. This was as much as 50% of the problem of last year's Chiefs team There are many more. The Broncos have a great coach. He has a great staff. Nolan made GREAT calls in the 2nd half especially after getting abused in the 1st half. More pressure from blitzing and stunts got to Rivers and he started choking. That's bullshit that some players want to win more than others or "know" how to win. You know how you win? You be a good football player. It's not ****ing philosophy. |

Other than that-you can see when guys aren't giving their best effort. You can see by their body language and it shows up in their play. It becomes obvious as a game wears on and it shows up in critical situations. |

What I'm arguing about is this other reeruned junk I hear from ESPN about guys like Roethlisberger. Great QB, no doubt. Know why he "finishes" games? Because he takes his time getting used to the pace of the defense. He's quick-thinking, strong, and big. He's a good QB. It's not because he "knows" how to win games. The fact that he has as many championships as he does versus a guy like Drew Brees is purely based on the talent around him and what the coaches do to put him in a position to win. He's a good enough player that he takes those situations and converts more often than not. Then there are some players who are simply lucky. Steve Kerr in the NBA is the best example I can think of. Does he know how to win championships or was he lucky enough to play alongside Jordan and Duncan, two of the best players in NBA history? |

Yeah, I know what you mean about the sportscasters using catchphrases and buzzwords. I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt if they have impressed me in the past, like Jaworski for instance. I just shake my head and turn the channel if it's somebody like Matt Millen. Hillis though, he did very well last year and now he's doing poorly. It's mental, and partly McD's system. He still has the same skill set. |
