Giffords shot at meet n greet in front of a tucson safeway. Early reports 12 wounded. 4 confirmed dead, early reports say giffords was shot in the head. 3 of her staff are also wounded. No report from the hospital on giffords.

There are many conflicting reports in the media in the rush to be first to report. However the intial report was that the gunmen was tackled but now there are reports that he was shot at. They did not say he was hit because he is in custody and not at the hospital.

People keep saying Palin and friends' rhetoric shouldn't be blamed if this shooting turns out to be politically motivated because he was probably a loon. But it only takes one loon to look at something like this and (mis?)interpret it as a literal call to violence for something like this to happen. I don't see how anybody could have defended Palin at the time, and I certainly can't see how anybody could defend her now. Violent politcal imagery and rhetoric is irresponsible at best and dangerous at worse.

If you are one who hears about this shooting and your first thought is to blame Sarah Palin you are a loon. Take some time off and unplug for awhile.

This shooting is the fault of some nutjob who will get every bit of punishment he deserves. This is a national tragedy, not an exercise in scoring political points.

Exactly. Hell the Judge could have been the target. Or it could have just been some dumb ass that wanted to become famous and figured a high profile event was a good way to do it.
