Cassel did, does, and will always suck

I had backed off on my Cassel hate in the second half of the season because he actually started to play with a modicum of competence. But I never stopped being wary of him, because he was playing well against shitty, shitty ****ing teams.

But today is proof positive that Cassel is NOT the answer. He will NOT be a franchise quarterback. He simply doesn't have the ability or the intelligence that is required. He never really progressed this season; he just managed to not shit himself against the NFC West.

Can we all just agree that he's not the answer? Please?

30 points was brilliant considering they were on the field 75% of the time. The offense could not hold the ball. They only scored the bulk of the points after Cassel fumbles and interceptions in the end of the third quarter. After the 4th down non-sweep, the real shift happened.

I've been a huge huge proponent of Matt Cassel when everyone in Chiefs nation was ready to burn him at the stake, but in this game today, I saw an average quarterback playing averagely. He's not a bad quarterback, but if the Chiefs want to reach the height of the NFL, he's not the answer. The first pick he threw to... Wilson I think? Where he had all the time in the world but got happy feet and just zinged it right to the Ravens... that was a play great QBs dont make. Great QBs make their mistakes, even ones that kill you, trying to make something huge and game changing happen. That was just a "feh" throw.

I dont think there's no chance he can improve and if they stick with him I wont go nuts, but I also think greatness is simply beyond his reach.

So was the playcalling and offensive gameplan, so I am not sad to see Weis go. But No one within 15 rows of my seats in section 122 today was left with a reason to be confident about Matt Cassel. We were a bunch of mopey mother****ers after the game.
Reaper were the WR's getting open or were they covered all day long? It is hard to tell on TV

They were basically hung out to dry by the offense. It's amazing they kept us in the game as long as they did.

And honestly, I like the fire they showed... mixing it up, and getting chippy. They were pissed off, and they should be. It's turned into a pretty proud, emotional defensive unit. I like seeing that kinda passion.

Now we've gotta fix the offense.

Garbage time stats and big games against shitty teams do not a "Pro Bowl type of season" make. And I'm not willing to give a guy who pretty clearly has a low ceiling more time. My overarching point is that if we want this team to win a Super Bowl, we need a Super Bowl quarterback. Cassel has not demonstrated the potential to become a Super Bowl quarterback, and it's not like he's a young rookie who might be a late bloomer. When is he going to finally "get it"? When he's 35? How many more "first _____" games does he need to play for everything to finally click?

Giving him more time does nothing but resign this team to a few mediocre seasons and embarrassing first round playoff losses. If you're satisfied with that, fine.

This is the real issue. The dude has peaked, and anybody who thinks he just needs more time in the film room to become a franchise QB is delusional.

They were definitely doubling Bowe a lot, but not every play. There were numerous plays where WRs were open. But Matt Cassel today did not know the difference between NFL-open and wide open. Matt Cassel flat-out refused to make an NFL throw, he refused to even attempt a difficult pass. Except for that time he forced the ball in front of Moeaki right to a defender.

Flacco made tight, NFL throws to extend drives. Cassel regressed to the Cassel of old -- the one who holds onto the ball way too long and doesn't trust himself.

"But he lit up the NFC West, a Denver team that was up by 35, and a Tennessee team that quit on its coach six weeks before."

Honestly, this game could have been a lot worse.

Flacco cost Baltimore 4 points on the first drive by fumbling that snap, and he let a ball that he recovered somehow slide between his legs that killed another one of his drives and led directly to Charles ripping off the big run. Charles caused a fumble on Cassel's first pick that would have dug us in an even deeper hole.

This game could have easily been 41-0.
