Cassel did, does, and will always suck

I had backed off on my Cassel hate in the second half of the season because he actually started to play with a modicum of competence. But I never stopped being wary of him, because he was playing well against shitty, shitty ****ing teams.

But today is proof positive that Cassel is NOT the answer. He will NOT be a franchise quarterback. He simply doesn't have the ability or the intelligence that is required. He never really progressed this season; he just managed to not shit himself against the NFC West.

Can we all just agree that he's not the answer? Please?

Well we should have drafted Sanchez but thats beside the point now. We are tied to Cassel, so we just got to build the most dominate team we can to make up for what he is lacking.
They might as well. What else more could they do?
There is plenty of room for improvement at a lot of positions on this team.

Still disagree with this. I'm all for drafting a QB, but I still don't think passing on Sanchez was the wrong move.

Trent Dilfer and Jim McMahon. Cassel is just as good if not better than those two.

My point is, you and many other people put way too much emphasis at the quarterback position. Don't get me wrong its part of it. But Lets not forget that this is a team sport okay. Chiefs have got a lot more problems than just Cassel.
Nothing like references from 11 & 26 years ago. So relevant.

If the modern NFL has proven anything, it's that it's all about that stud franchise QB. Everybody other then that is pretty much filler.

Eli Manning
Brad Johnson
Trent Dilfer

None of them are "stud franchise" QBs. They make up 3 of the last 7 Super Bowl winning QBs.

Once again, 2 of your cited QB played in an era when defenses could rape WR's.

QB is everything now. Let's not act like the exceptions are now the rule.

How many dynasties, consistent and legit SB threats, have been built around the likes of Dilfer and McMahon? These two QBs actually offer the greatest counter-argument and statement for how important the QB position: two teams with two of the greatest defenses ever constructed won only one SB. Shit, played in only one.

I'm so sick of people pointing at Trent Dilfer as though he's something to aspire to. Dilfer had the support one of the best defenses of all ****ing time. If Dilfer is Cassel's ceiling -- and we're not even sure if he's that good -- then Cassel is simply not the sort of quarterback the Chiefs need. Unless DJ suddenly turns into Ray Lewis and the rest of the defense plays out of their minds for an entire season.

There was no raping of receivers at any point in the 2000s. However, If you're referring to Polian hijacking the rules committee after 2004, you're looking at 2005-2010, which is far too small a sample to be using for your argument. Even with that, though, you've got Eli Manning as a Super Bowl winner, and Hasselbeck and Grossman making it as Super Bowl QBs as well.

Yeah, Those two and Brad Johnson and Jeff Hostetler in the last 25 years, and none since the rule changes in 2004.

That's a ****ing great idea.

People forget that the 1986 Bears D was better than the '85 Bears D, and lost in the playoffs.

No shit, that was a once in a generation defense. We may never see another one like it.

How'd your team do in the SB with Tony Eason and Drew Bledsoe?

I mean, of course you're odds-on favorites to win the SB this year. You have such lethal weapons as Danny Woodhead, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Julian Edelman, and Deion Branch.

I'm sick of people acting as if Brady's/Roethlisbergers grow on trees. They are the only two quarterbacks to win more than one Super Bowl in the 2000s. 30 other teams don't have quarterbacks like that. If drafting Brady's/Roethlisbergers was easy, every team would have one.

Manning has 7 one-and-done playoff appearances in his career. Brees has made the playoffs four times, and has 2 one-and-done years in that four. Rivers has gone one-and-done twice in four playoff seasons. Eli's gone one-and-done 3 times out of 4. JFC, get over the QB complaining already.
