Electronics Killer apps for Android? - Page 16

Since there's an iPhone version, I figured I'd start a Droid version. After being handcuffed by Sprint's SERO plan for the past two years, I finally ordered my LG Optimus S last night. It'll be here in about 24 hours. So, what toys should I play with when it arrives?

I know there are several photography people on the board, so I thought I'd mention Thumbnailer which I just started playing with this weekend. Better on a Tablet though, not something I'd run on my phone...

nef-Thumbnailer (and cr2-Thumbnailer) are let you view RAW image formats from Canon/Nikon cameras. I ran a quick test, shooting about 300 images (a little under 3GB) from a parking garage. Was able to view them directly on the camera using my Moto Xoom, with the ability to zoom in, share, save, etc. Having that extra screen size to review images is great, letting me delete a lot of images (shoot in continuous mode, or spray and pray) and save space. I also have about 40GB spare on my Xoom, so pulling off the camera is great for saving space on my flash cards as well.

What Rom does everyone recommend to download for the EVO? I'm using a stock rom from rom manager and didn't know which one I should be looking for.

I recommend giving CyanogenMod a try - Its stripped of all HTC software/bloatware - more pure android with code improvements from the Community
7.1RC I think is the latest -

If you don't like it Switch back - beauty of ROM Manger.

they have been on gingerbread for many months now but the froyo-based roms are still out there.

I am planning on using it again this year, but not at the game. Couldn't even send texts during the game last year. I bitched to the right ppl and curious to see if additional bandwidth is provided.

But on this photon4g the app seems to work well I just wanted to make sure that there is no blackouts or any thing like that

I was at the Chiefs game last Friday and I couldn't send texts very well. If that's what you're talking about.
