Cassel did, does, and will always suck
I had backed off on my Cassel hate in the second half of the season because he actually started to play with a modicum of competence. But I never stopped being wary of him, because he was playing well against shitty, shitty ****ing teams.

But today is proof positive that Cassel is NOT the answer. He will NOT be a franchise quarterback. He simply doesn't have the ability or the intelligence that is required. He never really progressed this season; he just managed to not shit himself against the NFC West.

Can we all just agree that he's not the answer? Please?

Nope, not really. My premise is that because they are listed as a "can't miss" the prognosticators aren't infallible.

A first rounder is supposed to be a stud. That's why they're picked first. A late rounder is minimum loss with nothing but upside.

That being said, my words are getting a little twisted here. I'm not advocating not picking a first round quarterback. I just think it's stupid to throw a season on a guy who's draft value is based on playing weak competition in college.

Honestly, the only comparison to how Rodgers is playing that I can think of would have to be Kurt Warner in their Superbowl victory run. Kurt Warner was demonic that season, you could say Brady in '07 but he failed to finish in the Superbowl (which was awesome).

our pieces are in place...we have an elite WR, a good slot guy, and a 1st round #2...

we have a good TE (injury prone)...

we have an emerging offensive line...

and we have Jamaal Charles...plus a gadget back who could probably be pretty useful if we had a QB who could make reads

we're set on offense

Defensively we have a top 5 rusher in the NFL...we have a ton of highly drafted, highly skilled DL (whether or not they live up to their potential I don't know)...

Belcher and DJ have played really good ILB this year...

we have 2 real good CB's, a pretty good nickel...an elite safety...

SO HOW ARE WE THROWING A SEASON!??!

WE'RE 1 GOD DAMN FRANCHISE QB AWAY (WITH SOME FILLER PIECES) FROM BEING AN ABSOLUTE CONTENDER.

There were more questions about Leinart that there were about Manning, and Manning had more questions that there are now about Luck.

Luck is the clsoest thing to a sure thing at QB that we've seen in 20+years.

Difference between Leinart is that Luck does not play on an all world team. Leinart did. Luck didn't have even half the talent on his team that Leinart did. Luck still put up just as good if not better numbers then Leinart.

Solid post. Really well done. I would even go to say that the DL picks we have made are really playing well right now. Jackson and Dorsey have played pretty well as of late.
