Call of Duty will go head-to-head with Battlefield 3 in 2011.

The third game in the series, which will be shown to press during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco next month, is set for release this coming fall, Electronic Arts confirmed.

The publisher revealed the first teaser trailer for the game on its official website tonight. The trailer, which contains no actual gameplay, displays quick cuts of helicopters, ground troops, tanks and fighter jets.

Additional details courtesy of the official Battlefield Blog confirm a full single-player and co-op campaign, jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer for the PC version. The Frostbite 2 engine will power the game and a Limited Edition will be revealed around GDC.

Developer DICE confirmed earlier this morning it was canceling the release of Battlefield 1943 and the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Onslaught pack for PC.

I'm at like .73 KDR. I'd be positive if my teammates would pay attention to their surroundings. I've gotten shot in the back probably 500 times. I say this because I'm around 1000 deaths and like 730 kills. I refuse to camp though. If only camping gets you a KDR over 1 then they need to seriously revamp all FPS.

I play strictly 64 player conquest and you are correct, jets & choppers have much more of an impact on the PC. I tried playing on a buddies xbox.. just couldnt deal with the reduced team size and graphics compared to the pc. You pretty much dont try to fly unless you have IR Flares + missles unlocked as the jet. I usually fly the attack helicopter with a buddy that guns. I use guided rockets, IR flares and he has the unlock for TV missile so we just wait for teammates to spot armor and we take it out. Gotta know where your mobile AA is because jets WILL come looking for you if your taking out their armor.

Campers don't get >400 SPM.

Did you play BF2 where jets were simply overpowering? Is that the case in this version?

I've learned to fly the jets really well now.

Just need to level them up a lot so I can actually kill people.

My kdr is terrible and I get pretty frustrated. It seems like I spawn into bullet fire as often as I don't. snipers on the edge of the maps are pissing me off too.


Also, on campaign, I feel like a moron. I'm stuck at the place where you follow the wire to the basement, pull the wire and you get attacked. I hit the damn "0" and the guy goes down to a knee and then kills me every, F'ing time. What is the trick? I've tried pounding the 0 repeatedly, I've tried timing it, I've tried hitting the 0 until he's down and then R2 for a knife....and can't get past it.

Very different game than the others I've done and it's definitely frustrating needing teamwork and not being able to find any type of help.

Yeah, I had trouble with that part too. Actually, I have trouble with ALL of the parts that require the close combat. I have to start slamming on the button ahead of time to make anything happen. If I wait for the on screen prompts it is too late and I die.

That's weird. Maybe it's a glitch? I just hit B when it came on screen and was fine, there was no trick to it. And yeah, Iowanian, I really wish you were on the 360 so you could play with us in actual squads.

I never played BF2. I used to play 1942 that was the last PC game I really played. Jets arent overpowering even with the unlocks. Between mobile AA and engineers with Stingers you cant really keep circling around the action because IR flares have a recharge timer. If someone shoots a stinger and you drop flares, you can bet your a$$ theres a kid with mobile AA ready to launch 2 missiles and unload a belt to disable or take you out.

Anybody else still having trouble losing their connection to the game all the time(on Xbox)? I can hardly get a full multiplayer game in 90% of the time because the "session has timed out", or "lost connection to the server", "lost connection with EA Online." Its really starting to drive me crazy.

I haven't experienced any of that yet. I only have like 7.5 hours played, though. What I have experienced is a completely broken matchmaking system that splits your squad up 90% of the time you join a game. You have to go through the server list and pick a half empty game to have a chance at staying with your squadmates. Dumb as hell.

I have and still do have this issue. Frustrating as hell. Generally takes me 4+ attempts just to join a game, but if I do get into a game, there is a 50/50 shot that I'm going to get kicked at some point because I "lost connection to the server."

The 50 I stay in the game is fun though. I haven't put much time in, but honestly, just getting into & staying in the games is so time consuming & frustrating that I may just put this one on the shelf until (if) they get the shit fixed.

It took EA about a month to get their shit straightened out with connection issues, punkbuster, server kicks etc with Bad Company (on PC). Reason #2 why I haven't shelled out for the game just yet.

so far I've only been playing the campaign on Normal mode; I decidd to take off aim-assist etc, and man it's pretty hard (for me, anyways). I can't get the snesitivity of the stick just right, so I'm not exactly accurate yet.
