I had backed off on my Cassel hate in the second half of the season because he actually started to play with a modicum of competence. But I never stopped being wary of him, because he was playing well against shitty, shitty ****ing teams.

But today is proof positive that Cassel is NOT the answer. He will NOT be a franchise quarterback. He simply doesn't have the ability or the intelligence that is required. He never really progressed this season; he just managed to not shit himself against the NFC West.

Can we all just agree that he's not the answer? Please?

I've never been a 'draft a QB in the first every year until you get a good one' person, but I am NOW. I give up on my previous 'draft a middle round prospect every year and groom them' stance. I'm watching CAM freaking NEWTON light things up. This crow taste like sh!t.

We cannot let this core of players waste their prime years with Mediocre Matt under center. We MUST find a + player at QB. He doesn't have to be John friggin' Elway, he just has to be a + player. an ABOVE AVERAGE QB. Trent Green in his prime, but for ten plus years would do just fine
I wish we could see Stanzi a little bit, just to see if there's anything there. At least his first instinct seems to be to go downfield.

It's time to take a first round QB.

A poll has probably been done before asking this very question, and it's totally hypothetical and pointless, but it would interest me.

Let me answer this question with this thought.

I was a big believer in Mark Sanchez's potenetial coming out of USC, and was one of the loudest proponents of the drfating him.

At this point in his development, if I were a jet fan, I'd say it's time to shit or get off the pot.

He's not improving, and it's getting to be that time when you have to think about replacing him.

That is how I would feel about Matt Cassel if he were a 25 year old QB in his thrid year.

My problem with Cassel has always been that he sucks, but he doesn't suck enough. If he Tavaris Jackson sucked, they'd replace him in a heartbeat, but he turns in a good play here and there, and even a good game here and there, which is just enough to make the Powers That Be think that he's got some juice. Then he turns in a mediocre game, then he turns in a game like today, and then people like us are calling for his head on a pike outside Arrowhead. But, alas, next week or the week after, he'll look good again, and management will say, "See?" and they'll try to stick with him. Again.

Same thing happened with Grbac. Same thing happened with Bono. Same thing is happening with Jason Campbell up in Oakland (when he's healthy). It's maddening.

Well....yeah...

It wouldn't totally kill me if Cassel totally sucks during that stretch of Steelers, Bears, Jets & Packers games, which obviously isn't out of the question.

Maybe 4 straight bad games against good defenses and missing the playoffs would be what the FO needs to make a change. Or maybe they'd just use the "well, those defenses eat QBs alive" excuse. Maybe we need him to throw 3 picks against the Pats sorry-ass secondary....

Bottom line is that ***** was brought in to win championships. And Cassel's not going to win any championships. I would hope by this point most, if not all, of us can agree on that.
