Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.


Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?



Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

Yup. At the very least it will break the OP rod. Lots of guys buy & change out the gas block so they can shoot modern deer hunting loads

How involved/expensive is that process?

Not hard. I have never done it. im sure their is U-tube vids on doing it. I would just hand load if you have a press? get the best most accurate bang for the buck.

They are a hoot to shoot. Something about that last shot & the PING! That Ping when the E-block hits the ground is like a time machine when you hear it.

I've switched out the gas tube on my AR - can't be much different. I just don't know how hard it will be to find parts.

You can use good old fashioned Milsurp if you are just plinking. If you want to do some hunting or such, Hornady, Federal and probably some others, produce 30-06 rounds specifically for the M-1 Garand with lower pressures than modern rounds. They are specifically marketed for M-1 use.

Here are a couple cheaper options. Most 30-06 produced today is for hunters or accuracy geeks, not much 'plinking' ammo in 30-06 except milsurp and it's still outrageously expensive compared to 5.56 or 7.62x39.
