It's one thing to say "there are no offers". We all know that the offer is the very last step.

He is saying something different here, he is saying there have been no discussions. That is the difference between saying "we haven't reached the end of the process yet" and "we haven't even discussed starting the process".

Sure, maybe he is lying, but it seems like the signaling from these two schools was initially that they were malcontents to, more recently, wanting to stick around.

It's complicated of course, not everyone at the school will even be in agreement, but saying there have been no discussions is a little stronger than when a team says they are a proud member of the Big 12 while trying to finagle their way into the PAC

Not at all. Mizzou's President never publicly bashed the SEC and Gary Pinkel never stated that going to the SEC would be a disaster. That would be idiotic if Mizzou actually was planning on leaving for the SEC.

I would think that in the past 2 years that there has been enough realignment rumors that people would understand that X school isn't going to come out and just say "Well yeah, we are wanting to leave X conference." Nebraska didn't do it. Colorado didn't do it. Missouri didn't do it. A&M didn't do it.

Does that mean that any school is coming to the Big 12? No. But the same shit is being said that has been said before.
