Obama's administration removing federal immigration support from the state of Arizona only re-enforces my belief that a sitting president should not be allowed to run for the office during the following election. I honestly and truly believe that his actions are little more than for the purpose of securing the hispanic vote in this coming election.

I don't like Romney any more than I like Obama but if I have to choose between a giant douche who supports state's rights to secure their borders, and a turd sandwich more interested in politicking than defending the welfare of the citizens who elected him.... then giant douche it is.

Not allowing a sitting president to use his office as a campaigning tool would squash a bunch of this bullshit.

There's pretty much no pro-immigrant policies a Democrat can embrace without being called a shill for the Hispanic vote.

For the record, the Arizona law was mostly struck down by a super conservative Supreme Court.

The change in immigration policy has been planned for a while, and it was ICE's response to the repeal of the Arizona immigration laws. It's also been spun like a washing machine by the right-wing press (and the right-wing not-really-the-press, like all of the opinion blogs people have been linked to here).

But even if Obama couldn't run again until 2016, his actions now would still be held for or against Hilary, or whoever, and would work for or against him in four years. The idea sounds better in concept than it would in practice, unfortunately.

But, changes start with ideas, most of which don't pan out, so keep it up.

Public policy is too often crafted for short-term gain, not long-term benefit.

Ensuring presidents can only serve four years at a time only guarantees to make that problem worse.
