Gun Control

We have all heard about what happened in Aurora, Co, and I think that Gun Control is going to be a huge topic in the following months.

What measures need to be taken? Do you have any ideas that will help prevent this kind of thing from happening again as it pertains to guns?

I don't want to take guns away from anybody but I have always supported reasonable gun control. Of course defining what reasonable is to far-left or far-right people is almost impossible.

I think one deterrant (maybe there are some in place) for criminals/illegal guns, is to impose harsh punishment on those who are found to be carrying illegally, having an illegal gun, committing a crime with a gun etc.

I'm not sure what the punishment is for those types of scenarios, but I would suspect it's not harsh enough. offset that increase in prison population by legalizing marijuanna.

boom done.

This is what I mean by hyper-emotional arguments. You can't swing a cat in a gun reg conversation without hitting one.

You can regulate guns, just like you can regulate speech. The Constitution is not a blank check. And on any other subject, you're probably rational enough to understand that.

But there are just some subjects where people lose their minds, and gun control is one of them.

That's what you mean by hyper emotional? You have a funny idea of what emotion is. The constitution says what it says. "Shall not be infringed" means what it means. I'm sorry you can't get your head wrapped around it, Shirley.

We get free speech, too. Doesn't mean you get it everywhere, all the time, without restriction.

We already have laws restricting firearms. People like you advocate lessening freedom. People like me don't. Now quit getting all hyper-emotional about it.
