Gun Control

We have all heard about what happened in Aurora, Co, and I think that Gun Control is going to be a huge topic in the following months.

What measures need to be taken? Do you have any ideas that will help prevent this kind of thing from happening again as it pertains to guns?

How do you have any idea how individuals would react?

I am done arguing with you. There is simply no point.

Had a 2 week waiting period been in place, it still wouldn't have changed what happened. The last weapon purchased was on 6 July, the killing happened 20 July.....

Sorry Dave, performing a headshot while both the target and the shooter are moving is hard as ****..Even more so when there are rounds in the air..Not so hard when you're on the range...

But I do agree a criminal who believes there is any chance that there is someone else as well armed as he is will consider a softer target...

I think every single household in America should be required by law to have a single barreled shotgun in their home. If they are Anti-Gun you can choose to never buy a shell for it... I guarantee you home invasions and burglaries would drop 50% the first year.

I think you should be able to legally carry anywhere in the USA as long as you are not drinking or on mind altering drugs.

Have you ever noticed the places that get shot up with multiple deaths always seem to be a place where Guns are not allowed? Columbine, VT, Now This..

Stiffen the penalty for using guns in violent acts and make them serve federal time when they do.

More gun control is absurd...

Some people talk about High Capacity Magazines , What difference does it make? I can carry 6 mags on my belt carrying 13 bullets each and drop and empty one and reload in less that 2 seconds. Only Law Abiding Citizens read the "No Guns Allowed" signs on doors... The person getting ready to shoot up the place or rob you don't give a rats ass about your little sign.

If you make it State time and not federal....I agree with everything else you said....

State time is a ton harder time then federal...Other then the parole/good time for State convicts

And right there is where you curb gun crimes, besides concealed/open carry....
Harder sentencing and no good time/parole for those convicted.

So people think the govt shouldn't be able to require you to purchase health insurance should be able to force you to buy a gun from a firearm company? Or should the government provide the gun?

This article pretty much says it all.

The shrinking gun control caucus

Key quote:

Quote:
An October 2011 Gallup Poll found that 73 percent of Americans would not support a ban on owning handguns except by law enforcement – the highest level of opposition since in more than 50 years. The National Rifle Association also enjoys considerable public backing, with 68 percent of Americans holding favorable views of the gun group, according to an April Reuters/Ipsos poll.
Nothing is going to happen. Absolutely nothing. The NRA would not be this powerful without strong support from the people.
