With the beginning of a new year, it is time for the 2012 version of the Royals Repository Thread. We've got Hosmer, we've got a 2011-dominating Gordon, we've got Moose, we've got hopefully a killer bullpen, we've got a stereotypical slow slugging DH, we've got easily one of the best defensive shortstops in the AL, we've got a promising catcher in Salvador Perez. Hell, we've got offense and promising prospects galore.

We do not have starting pitching.

Oh yeah, we've also got this:



Get ready for, (as of January 2012 anyway), one of the most confusing puzzles of a baseball season in recent Royals history. Will they suck? Maybe, I don't know. Will we be given a year of 0.500 baseball? Possibly, I don't know. Will they win the division and go to the playoffs for the first time in 27 years? For the first time in a long time, it could happen, I don't know. 92 losses, 92 wins, or anything in between would not surprise a lot of us.

Everything goes here except Gameday threads and really big news. If a giant story breaks, the Royals achieve some awesome milestone, or we sign/lose a highly significant player/coach/mascot/whatever, then it might also deserve its own thread. This being Chiefs Planet, please do not clutter the board with new threads about trivial Royals news or you will only annoy those who come here for just Chiefs football. If you aren't sure and its not a Gameday thread, it goes here.

What sort of stuff often goes here? SPchief explained it well, so I'll just copy that:

I do think we are going to trade Gio or we are waiting to see if we can trade Yuni prior to calling him up. It has to be one or the other, right?
I would prefer Falu and Getz. Gio and Falu both had pretty equal opportunity this season. Falu was such a better hitter. Package Gio any way we need to in order to get rid of Frenchy or throw him in a deal if need be to acquire someone at the deadline.

Myers is in a slump right now, his batting is down to .285 and his OPS is around .937 or so.

Did the same thing in lower A ball leagues as well IIRC. He is getting bored with the competition it would seem.

I could see if we got a haul of a major league ready top of the line arm under control for 5 years and another up and comer and a lottery ticket pulling the trigger. We need starting pitching that BAD.

If he lets stuff like that affect him, he deserves to stay down in Omaha. If he's still slumping, then Moore is justified in keeping him down.

He's ready, and he's a much better option than Frenchy. Thus, there's really no defending Moore's insistence on running out, easily, one of the worst everyday players in MLB. My guess is that Frenchy is statistically the worst, but I haven't verified that.

I am just hoping the Royals back off their ML ready SP shit soon so they can trade their real chips like mijares, broxton and hopefully package some minor leaguers with frenchy somewhere. Myers is ready slump and all there is absolutely nothing Jeff Francouer offers to this team

Basically, just no A or lower guys. As that's where the Royals' system is deep.
