The formerdb / Filmroom QB theory with facts even

The short of it, this is NOT a QB driven league.

Say what?

Well here's some interesting facts he threw out there that at least may give you pause. I thought it was interesting series of tweets. The collective CP hive mind may be blown.

Big Ben attempted 16 passes a game in the season he won his first ring.

Is it Big Ben, Eli Manning, Rogers that turned the fortunes of Pittsburgh, NYG, Green Bay around? Seems to me they always been pretty good.

Statistically neither Brady or Big Ben's 23 SB rating screams elite to me at the times they won.

Since Tom Brady has put up elite numbers, his team hasn't won a SB, won 3 with above average numbers. But it's a QB driven league

Ben won with a rating in the 20's in his first SB.

During Pats SB runs with *****/Crennel/Daboll the QB rating of Tom Brady never surpassed the rating Cassel posted in 2010.

I disagree...SB have a way of getting spun overwhelmingly in the QB favor, when other factors contributed more at times.

Brady wasn't elite when he won. Like I said, myths. Research and tell me they were elite when they won. what about his second and third? Never had a higher rating than Cassel's 2010 rating...is Cassel elite?

Last 12 years 2 top 5 offenses have won SB, 5 top 10 offenses have won. Same span 5 top 5 defenses have won, 8 top 10 defenses have won SB.

In Big Ben's title runs he led the 15th and 22nd offense along with the 4th and 1st ranked defense...but it's a QB league.

if the offense can be top 10 then I would do backflips...what I am saying...ppl need to quit with the "QB league" mess.

yeah, it's a media spin job...not the statistical support needed to continue perpetuating the myth of "QB win SB".

‏From Me:

@TheFilmRoom Since according to your tweets its not a QB league is it your assertion the Chiefs can go to the SB with Cassel at the helm?

Cordell ‏@TheFilmRoom
If San Fran with Alex Smith can knock on the door along with Flacco, and Sanchez then I see it as a possibility.

Oh well, it is what it is.

You don't need a QB to put up 4 or 5 thousand yards.

You need a QB that steps up when the game is on the line.

The one commonality about all of the last 10 or 12 SB winners, from Kurt Warner to Ben Roethlisberger to Eli Manning, is those QBs all stepped up and made plays when it mattered most.
That's exactly what I took from this, too.

The following year, they drafted well and added a much more physically gifted QB in Elvis Grbac. The end result was 10-6 and out of the playoffs.

I don't think that anyone would look to Trent Dilfer and view him as a Franchise QB or even an above average QB. But he was smart and selfless, which are two qualities the current Chiefs starter does not possess.
Sarcasm, not meant to be taken seriously.
Agreed though, Dilfer was the definition of game manager.

Perfect example of this is a guy like Joe Montana and a good microcosm of him was that classic MNF matchup against Elways Broncos.

Joe didn't throw for a first down till late third quarter, but he made it happen when it counted to win the game.

The perfect example is the "Greatest Show on Turf".

NFC Championship game (iirc), the Bucs just absolutely shut down the Rams, but when the game was late, and the Rams needed to move the ball and score or go home, Kurt Warner makes a couple of big plays, including a beautiful TD strike to Ricky Proehl to win and advance.

Outstanding examples.

Also, that bullshit comeback Elway pulled out of his ass at Arrowhead. 2 TD on the last 2 possessions of the game to win the 4th. Happened in 91 or 92?

In what year exactly did the rules change to benefit the offense and QB? His stats should start from that date...

The rules to benefit offenses, and QB, have been chnging since the 70s.

Remember when O-Linemen were not allowed to use their hands to block?

Remember when DBs could mug recievers until the ball was in the air?

Again, I'll wait for preseason and watch with my own eyes.

Each update from the "reputable" sources says Stanzi is completing tons of "wow" passes. Apart from last night, he has yet to really have a terrible practice if you follow the play-by-play.

I don't put any stock in the TC reports regardless. I'm not there watching them, and even if I were, they're freakin practice snaps. If they held any merit, our offense would be the return of the Vermeil Chiefs and our defense sucks dick.

Heres some other great examples:

Matt Cassel despite having a shitty 09' season splits 2 Cowboy defenders throwing to Dwayne Bowe to send the game into overtime.

Matt Cassel putting the Chiefs in FG position to beat Buffalo in 2010.

Then who can forgot the 2011 game vs San Diego? Matt Cassel throws to a wide open Steve Breaston to help put his team into position for a game winning field goal. Putting the Chiefs into 1st place.
