With the beginning of a new year, it is time for the 2012 version of the Royals Repository Thread. We've got Hosmer, we've got a 2011-dominating Gordon, we've got Moose, we've got hopefully a killer bullpen, we've got a stereotypical slow slugging DH, we've got easily one of the best defensive shortstops in the AL, we've got a promising catcher in Salvador Perez. Hell, we've got offense and promising prospects galore.

We do not have starting pitching.

Oh yeah, we've also got this:



Get ready for, (as of January 2012 anyway), one of the most confusing puzzles of a baseball season in recent Royals history. Will they suck? Maybe, I don't know. Will we be given a year of 0.500 baseball? Possibly, I don't know. Will they win the division and go to the playoffs for the first time in 27 years? For the first time in a long time, it could happen, I don't know. 92 losses, 92 wins, or anything in between would not surprise a lot of us.

Everything goes here except Gameday threads and really big news. If a giant story breaks, the Royals achieve some awesome milestone, or we sign/lose a highly significant player/coach/mascot/whatever, then it might also deserve its own thread. This being Chiefs Planet, please do not clutter the board with new threads about trivial Royals news or you will only annoy those who come here for just Chiefs football. If you aren't sure and its not a Gameday thread, it goes here.

What sort of stuff often goes here? SPchief explained it well, so I'll just copy that:

If you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

I agree with this, nobody is trading for Frenchy in the off season unless we agree to eat most of the salary or somebody is also salary dumping. We will also want to get an extra year of control on Myers by waiting one month to play him.

Its about how the Royals and Chiefs are using a taxpayer-funded $8.5 million account intended for stadium maintenance to instead pay running expenses like event staff payroll and county taxes.

The acts are legal due to a modification in the lease agreements before the issue went before voters in 2006, but certainly isn't how that deal was sold to the public.

Kevin Keitzman broke this story August 31. Right afterward, Yost and the Royals started acting like a stirred up hornet's nest.

No kidding. Sanchez $5 million, Betancourt $2 million, Mijares $1 million. That's 8 million flushed, with only the $4 million to Broxton well-spent.

We're also looking at 4.5 million to Chen, and 6 million (this season) to Francoeur. Those deals aren't looking good either.

That's 18.5 down the drain.

Damn. Anyone really doubt that Glass is pissed?

I was more so referring to Chiefs O' being on Twitter every moment of everyday but yea...that as well.

King felix signed that contract under team control. Hardly a good example.

I will flip my shit if Wil Myers is not on the team out of spring training. That's absolutely ridiculous - and cheap. He has done just as much to force the team's hand as Hosmer did, if not more. And certainly over a much longer period of time.

If they don't think 50 AB in September adds value, fine. But don't mock this fanbase by leaving Myers down until May/June next year.

The good note is that this gives me a decent chance to nab Myers in my fantasy keeper/auction league next year. He would look nice anchoring my team for the next 8 years with Trout and Harper.
