Dumb old woman ruins 100-year old painting

From left to right: original, before restoration attempt, after

I can paint that! Wait, no I can't!

Quote:
Would you think to match your home-grown painting skills against a classical artist? Probably not, but that's just what a well-intentioned woman in her 80s did recently in Spain.

...

The BBC Europe correspondent described the painting's current state as resembling "a crayon sketch of a very hairy monkey in an ill-fitting tunic."
Some dumb old woman was tired of looking at an old, faded painting of Jesus on a church wall and thought she could fix it. She didn't.

Even more hilarious, the original artist's granddaughter had JUST recently made a donation to get that painting professionally restored.

As long as she sent a PM saying things got carried away and admitting her part in it, it's all good.

Looks like a photoshop hoax to me.

Yay for the internet and people taking it so seriously. Would not be surprised in Snopes has, or will soon, bust this myth.
