I spoke with Dr. Paul this afternoon about continuing the fight by running on a third party ticket. I want to share what he said to me and let you know what needs to be done to make this happen. Kitten, I have never been nor never will be nervous about Ron Paul. He's a kook and he attracts kooks, but that isn't any reason to be nervous about him or them.

Nails on the money. I truly wish there was a viable third party. Many people fall in between the two parties. Removing the wingers who can only see one side of a discussion a very large amount of us find common ground with people who are in the other party. You and I are an example of this. We disagree often but agree on enough that would could work together and get some things done. NewChief, gobowe, pat, Goblow, Flop, Donger, Brock, stevieray and Directshun are a few that jump to mind of people who I disagree on some things yet still feel we could work together and accomplish something~

You are putting a ton of faith in the idea that this fiscal cliff actually exists. And that the Ron Paul movement is actually going to start sweeping up followers from outside of a very small niche group. It's not going to happen.

The economy is going to pick up in the next 4 years. We're not going to slip into another recession. And as the economy picks up, Obama will get credit and the Republicans will be blamed for stonewalling. And meanwhile, nothing will ever be done to address massively escalating entitlements. That then sets up Hilary Clinton, who is going to be a very tough rival to beat.

I'm sorry, but people are absolutely naive if they think there wasn't a better time in this country to fix our fiscal issues. Fiscal conservatism is going to be a much tougher platform to run on in 2016. Ron Paul is going to lose a ton of disciples once young people start getting jobs again.

There is no guarantee the economy is going to pick up in the next four years, particularly if Obama wins a second term.

I agree that there's no guarantee, but the chances that the natural business cycle and the determination of American capitalists will overcome the economic morass created by the Obama administration over the next few years are far greater than the chances that Obama will face the entitlement time bomb that's headed our way with any real seriousness.

The real question will be how close is any growth that might take place in a 2nd Obama term to the maximum growth that was possible and, IMO, it's very unlikely to be close.

Could be, or American capitalists could merely stockpile cash and assets and ride out the storm, rather than invest and create jobs. An Obama victory means continued uncertainty, and businesses will certainly prepare for worst case scenarios.

And I completely agree with the bolded part of your statement. A 2nd Obama term rules out any chance of achieving maximum growth.
