The conversation discourse in D.C. should be better.

I've been gone from D.C. for a couple of years and since I've been back I've been disappointed in the name calling and ridicule of another posters position. Immediately writing off someone who doesnt agree with you.

Yes, there are going to be strongly held beliefs on both sides. Passion for a position. If your position is the right position, surely you can make your point without name calling or making fun od the poster. Surely you can point out the fallacy of their position without calling then an idiot.

I'm not saying we have a cumbaya moment. Just that we each think before a post if we need to post the vitirol and name calling to make our points.

Just because D.C. isn't moderated doesn't mean we should just post any ****ing thing we want.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. I will be voting for Obama but we are not lock step in the same beliefs on every issue. From another thread:

I think I differ in some aspects.

I support the R's in gun control issue because the consitutution is clear.

I absolutely loathe the freeloaders. I feel we should help up our fellow human beings. Not with hand outs but helping them to help themselfs. And if they dont want to get off the taxpayer dime, **** em.

I voted for Ronald Regan...twice, George H. Bush.

I'm pissed off at the hypocrites, including Dems.

Why I left the Republican party:
Tax cuts weighed hevaily in favor of the rich doesn't work. Trickle down economics doesnt work. George W. Bush tired that and now Romey wants the same thing. Why should I return to that crap?

I don't believe the government has a right to tell a person what they should do with their body. How can a R say they are all about individual liberty and keeping government out of their lifes but advocate such an invasive government intrusion into a persons own choice.

If we allow businesses to do whatever they want, they will behave badly in the chase for profit. We have to have regualtions or they will run amok. We saw that all play out in 2008-2009.

How can you square this with the fact obama is married to a sasquatch?

So you're saying that if the Rs and the Ds could discipline themselves to maintain civility is spite of their differences they might be able to progress towards achievements for the common good here on CP?

That's just crazy enough to work.

Sure we could work together to ridicule Ron Paul supporters.

There's no real comparison. I don't think you can find any equivalency to spending 4 years, despite definitive evidence, questioning someone's place of birth, citizenship, religion, and allegiance to his country to the point that a sizable portion of the Rs still actually believe Obama is a Kenyan-born Muslim.

Try 8+ years listening to people claim Bush killed >3000 people in a day and brought down the WTC towers.
Like I said, you O-Bots have had it easy.

Paul movement is the furthest thing from a cult. It's not about the man, it's about the message of liberty. Anyone with the same message would be followed by the same people. Someone needs to look up the word cult. Krackers are just not literate enough to know what the word means. The word would actually would apply to Christianity—which was considered a cult in it's early days and maligned for being outside the mainstream or new. Other than that, someone is butt hurt that they aren't excited about any candidate to be enthusiastic about. Sad.

Oh, and Paul is going to be on Jay Leno tonight. If he runs 3P we may find out if the rumor is true or not. Stay tuned.

Do Paul supporters get a worship mat? I don't want anything that clashes with my decor~
