His speech was pretty much nullified by the shitty jobs report this morning. 96,000 total jobs added even though unemployment dipped to 8.1% because people stopped looking for work.

I thought it was above average but he knew the job numbers prior to giving it so that effected the tone of it for sure.

I'm not saying it's the most qualified.

But the GOP is too exclusive right now. None of its policies appeal to any minorities, and they're losing more women right now than ever.

Their only hope is white men. They have to hope they win over enough middle- and older-aged straight white men to offset their massive losses amongst the young, women, blacks, browns, Jews, and gays. Too many of their policies play too poorly amongst those groups.

That's not sustainable. Because as the population grows, and the minority populations slowly become the majority, the GOP could risk extinction.

It was just... blah. It really felt like he was just throwing stuff against the wall, with no structure or theme. He speaks great, but it was just hollow. Maybe because we've heard it all before, maybe because he admitted that his perspective is that the road ahead under his stewardship will be even harder than it already has been.

It was just a tired, disorganized mess. As Krauthhammer said, it was pretty much an empty vision, rather than a plan.
