I watched The Battle for Syria last night. Learned quite a bit.
One of the more interesting facts was this being a proxy war between Iran and Saudi Arabia, which leads me to believe that SA doesn't like the idea of a nuclear Iran. Will they do anything about it? Or are they also looking to outsource the work? |

Frontline is great. I've been watching it for years.
Very good back episodes are the one on the "tank man" and the "Meth Epidemic", also liked "Growing up online" you can find many of these on Netflix too.

For anyone who's interested, the show does "The Choice" tonight to cover both sides of the election. Saw some clips and looks like it might be worth a look. 8 PM PBS

Pretty much every episode of Frontline is very well done but also extremely depressing. I save them up and finally force myself to watch while I clean or something.

Anyone watch the Choice?
I thought they did a god job on the bios, very even handed. For anyone who has more interest than "where is the birth certificate" or "when did he get rich", I learned several things I didn't know about each candidate.

I watched it and also learned a couple of things. A lot of it was just a deeper look into generalities I already knew. Like a refresher course.
I learned more about Obama than I did Romney. It's pretty apparent that he failed in his mission. He wanted to unite everyone and his first order of business while in office killed any chance he had. It has tarnished everything he's tried to do since. This is primarily why I believe we need a change. He's certainly not going to accomplish this goal during a 2nd term. The concern with Romney is how easily he can change his mind on issues. The way that they broke it down leaves me less concerned though. He's not thinking like a politician, he's thinking like a consultant and doing what he has to to solve the issues at hand. It seemed like he didn't have a lot of luck reaching across the aisle while governor until the end when he pushed healthcare reform. The concern moving forward is how would he handle a Dem majority in the Senate? Will they play by the same rules the Reps have been playing and basically block everything? |

If Romney wins, it's unlikely that the dems will retain a majority in the Senate. The dems will still have plenty of votes to filibuster though, but certainly less ability to set the agenda.

Some about Romney's early life. How he met his wife. Kind of a bad story. What the Mormon mission in France was about. That he almost died in a car accident over there.
Obama apparently smoked a lot of weed in high school. He actually thanked his drug dealer in his yearbook.

Devastating piece this week on the politics of climate change.
If there's ever been a topic with more importance that can get absolutely zero push in our politics, it's this issue. |
