Your drinking game says to drink when a candidate ignores the moderator's question. There's a reason why that rule is in there, politicians are NOTORIOUS for doing this, especially Romney and to a lesser extent, Obama. Lehrer asked Romney if he wanted to ask Obama a question about jobs, and Romney flatly ignored him and went on a big multi-minute oral screed without addressing Obama with a question.

Neither has really gotten into a lot of specifics but Romney has moreso than Obama. Obama is resorting to rhetoric and name dropping (Bill Clinton)

...I thought you were talking about Obama and Romney as "participants" and that there was some new rule governing the debate that I didn't know about. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

But yes - they do like to completely ignore the question and go back to the same old talking points. It's obnoxious.

This "reaction is forbidden" rule in today's debates is going to make "big moments" like what we saw in the Reagan debates, impossible.

It wasn't only the quip or clever words that made them memorable, it was the laughter and/or roar from the crowd.

If the crowd is going to always be silent from now on, then the undecided and low-information voters are going to get bored with the endless drone and tune out.

This debate isn't going to do anything to the polls if it keeps going like this.
