A lot of liberals still paint Romney as the Romney they want him to be.

Romney has always been a moderate. That's what I've found so funny about the 'mittens' attacks and things of that nature. Romney's as centrist a Republican as you're ever going to find. And yet, they continue to try to hammer him as this far right wing-nut so that he's easier to pillory. And then they'll say things like "Of course I'm not an ideologue, it's just that the Republicans won't offer any sort of reasonable candidate..."

Huh? Romney is the embodiment of a centrist, 'reasonable' candidate. Occasionally he'll say something like the 47% quip and the libs eat it up as another elitist comment, but the fact is that he simply did a really shitty job of articulating what is a fairly moderate viewpoint re: the fear of the rise of entitlement programs. You honestly don't think the working middle-class thinks about that sort of thing? Afterall, if it's the 99% vs. the rich 1%, well I guess that leaves about 52% in between that 47% and the 1% that probably aren't real excited about the rise of the entitlement class.

Romney is exceedingly centrist in almost everything. In fact, if you slapped a D after his name, he'd be considered little more than a southern Democrat.

Yet now we have to hear this nonsense about his hard lean to the middle. Gimme a break, folks. What you saw last night is the real Romney, not the painted up caricature of Gordon Gecko that the Democrats desperately want to run against.

Gallup does a 3 day rolling average, IIRC. So the bump will start to set in on Monday, with a more defined result by Tuesday/Wednesday. You'll know how sustained that bump was by Friday.
