Geno Smith fans roll call

NEW THREAD HEADER (11/17/12):

The list is gone. We will all be Geno Smith fans when he gets drafted by the Chiefs. For historical documentation's sake, I'll keep the list in a separate post on this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=3314

WHY GENO SMITH?
If you're wondering if Geno Smith is right for you, check out this brilliant post by Saccopoo:

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=5388

Next, we have a few GIFs you may be interested in from the Oklahoma game. Insane potential. These are the elite throws that very few QBs can make. What more can I say? Geno Smith can be a franchise QB in the NFL, and the Chiefs need to take a shot on him.

GIF #1:
Spoiler!

GIF #2:
Spoiler!

GIF #3 (My favorite):
Spoiler!

HOW DO WE GET HIM HERE?

Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story.

Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno
5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert

This type of thread is an obvious discredit Mr. Stanzi’s repute.

I'll drive that bitch if nobody else will. I still believe that Stanzi has more potential than Cassel does even when he's dreaming of being Brady. I don't think he's superman, but I would at least like to see him play with the ones. If he sucks, he sucks. I don't really know nor care that much about Quinn, but shit, he's better than Cassel too. Let the backups play the rest of the year, so we can see what we have. Then, we need to dump Cassel. Next, draft Geno and try to find a backup to beat out Brady or Stanzi. Death to the suckiest.

The height of my Stanzi fandom was never more than he's the best QB on our roster. It was informed by impressive games in college in spite of being hampered by the Bill Parcells of the NCAA, and a 2011 preseason where he was ABSOLUTELY the best QB on the roster. He then failed miserably the following preseason, and people who refused to acknowledge his prior success act like they were right all along.

I had reason to think he could have and should have been our starting QB, and that he's better for morale and the franchise than Cassel. At least Stanzi is a young QB who would have struggled but had the potential to grow. Matt served us the same ****ing shit sandwich that he's always delivered as a Chief. It has never ****ing changed, and it never will. Thankfully this will be his last year, though.

Even when we do draft Geno Smith, it's Cassel and Quinn who need to be the ones to get their asses out the ****ing door, not Stanzi. Keep Stanzi, sign a veteran, draft Geno. That needs to be our QB corps.

And with that, I'm done talking about Stanzi until Cassel and Quinn both get their asses benched for shitty play.

Trust in Geno.

From Schefter's Friday Ten Spot...

Quote:
3. RG3, Part II?

Just as former Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III did last year, West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith has exploded onto the NCAA scene. Through four games, Smith has thrown 20 touchdowns and only 28 incompletions, vaulting himself into the conversation to become the top quarterback drafted in April. He does play video-game football in the Big 12, but his production is undeniable. After Smith threw for 656 yards and eight touchdowns during last weekend's 70-63 win over Baylor, one NFL general manager texted: "Reminds me of RG3 Alamo game last year." Another GM texted: "Lot to like about this player. Arm, athletic, accurate. Rising up boards." What scouts like most about Smith is that he's a gym rat, a sponge, a player with a work ethic and a thirst to be better. Now Smith is embarking on a key stretch. Smith's next four games are against ranked opponents: Texas, Texas Tech, Kansas State and TCU. It is hardly a given -- and may never have been -- that USC's Matt Barkley will be the first quarterback picked in April. Smith is making his run for the Heisman Trophy and the distinction of being the first quarterback drafted this April.

Be a shame if his draft stock ends up so high that we'll never even get a chance to get him. Just gotta ignore that for now I guess.

Wow. Just stop.

Andrew Luck was, in my opinion, the best QB prospect since Peyton Manning. Geno Smith is nowhere NEAR Luck. Let's not get crazy here. From a mental ability to run an NFL offense, Luck was as surefire as they come.

We'll have a chance via trade. The question is whether our GM--new GM we can hope--will have the stones to pull the trigger.

If Smith is the guy, trade away the entire draft to get him; it simply doesn't matter, and last year's abysmal draft is evidence of this.

If you're going for "surefire," then yeah, Luck is as good as they come, but even Luck isn't 100% surefire.

Which is why it's pointless to even argue if surefire makes a difference when comparing any two QBs. One QB is better than the other. One QB has elite skills, the other might as well. The other might not.

Geno Smith has an elite arm. He's got an Andrew Luck arm. He's also got Luck's poise in the pocket and ability to avoid the pass rush. Geno also has the ability to scramble if he needs to. though I don't think he's as fast as Luck or RGIII at doing that. For our purposes, Geno Smith would be the best scrambling QB we've had in a LONG time. That's good enough for me.

Your questions about him keep going back to the system and offense he plays in, but in those regards he's not all that much different from RGIII. They weren't the same offense between the two QBs, but it wasn't pro style, which is all that seems to matter to you.

Luck had the pro style offense, and a QBs coach/head coach with a proven track record. That's why Luck is more attractive to you. That's fine.

But surely that doesn't put Geno Smith that far down the list, does it? Cam Newton and RGIII have both come from non-pro style systems and have both made the transition brilliantly. Surely a guy like Geno Smith with the perfect attitude, work ethic, leadership qualities, and smarts should be able to do what those two were able to do.
