DNC. Team Big Bird

Of all the really important stuff like jobs, the economy, foreign affairs....this is Obamas issue

Pathetic

Drew –

What did Big Bird ever do to Mitt Romney?

For two years, Republicans have been pushing this crazy idea that Public Broadcasting is the cause of all our nation’s problems. It’s ridiculous.

Let’s tell Mitt and the Republicans in Congress that their failed policies of the past caused the deficit, not PBS!

Join Team Big Bird: Help us reach 100,000 strong standing up for Public Broadcasting

If Mitt Romney had his way, Sesame Street would be toast. And it wouldn’t solve anything.

Add your name to stick up for Public Broadcasting: http://dccc.org/Team-Big-Bird

Thanks

Kristie

Can one of the liberals here explain to me why so many liberals are going to bat to save PBS?

It's hard to say.

They already have NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, etc as mouthpieces. I guess they're just greedy (well, as long as they're using our money, they're greedy).

The bigger question is "Why do republicans want to maintain $4B in subsidies for the ever-wealthy oil companies & cut $8M in subsidies to Sesame Street?" Oil execs compensation packages > educational material for America's youth? That's some interesting math.

They think this Big Bird thing is some game changer, but I don't think people even like Big Bird. As if Big Bird will be a symbol of the election in Obama's favor; I don't see it that way. I think it's just a sort of goofy aside to the campaigns, but I don't see it favoring either guy.
Aside from the far left spazzes on twitter I don't see too many people caring much at all.

It's easier to sit your kids ass in front of TV than it is to interact with them to teach then something. Parenting is just as hard as going to get a voter id card.

No, that's not a bigger question. That's an evasion. Can I take it that you don't have a good argument?

Yeah, I agree. I think it's ridiculous to think that "Save Bigbird!" is going to be the rallying cry that pulls Obama across the finish line.

I get why the concept of PBS came about, although why the government thought it should have a TV channel (and then a network) is sort of a mystery. But there was a time when the market had no way to really support the kinds of things that PBS did. Unfortunately, there are now at least a dozen channels that do what PBS did and, frankly, does it better. The few shows that are worthwhile on PBS would QUICKLY find homes on established networks and likely see their budgets go up as well.

I thought Romney established a great litmus test, if it is important enough to borrow the funds from China, if not, cut it. PBS was one of his two examples of not passing the test.

I ask anyone who thinks PBS should continue to be government funded please explain to me how it passes Romney's test. PBS gets benefit two ways, it gets public funds and it pays no taxes. Even if the funds are cut they still get the tax break, which puts them at a significant advantage over other broadcasting stations.

If all the people tweeing and complaining about Romney and Big Bird donated to PBS they wouldn't need any money anyway.

That's the Obama strategy. Mock your opponent while completely ignoring the real message they delivered.

It is funny that Obama is leaning on Big Bird to win the election for him, but Romney also needs to have a forceful response that is equally mocking of the president.

Wow.

What an epic and complete fail.

Hearing Obama support this message is just sad. This is like an SNL skit of an Obama ad.
