on his Sirius/XM show with Adam Shine and although I didn't catch the entire segment I did hear him say that he would spend hours as the back-up watching film etc. and Grbac would not even show up and he (Gannon) knew that if Marty ever regretted anything it was not making Grbac be accountable for that.

Okay maybe not current but just found it interesting and thought it was worth sharing.If anyone caught the complete segment maybe you could fill in the gaps of what prompted the comment etc.

What's often forgotten is that Gannon put up fairly pedestrian numbers during the 1997 season, I think the major difference was that, unlike Grbac, he wasn't a freaking quitter.

I have a friend who never officially had a favorite NFL team to root for. He always just watched NCAA. Then he got into fantasy football and wanted a team to root for and was open for suggestions. I successfully turned him in to a Chiefs fan. Before I gave my "spleel" about the Chiefs, he said there was absolutely no way he could get into a team that has always come off to him as so boring. I informed him of some of the non-boring shit about the franchise and the whole Elvis Grbac: People Magazine's Sexiest Athlete (because they had him confused with Rich Gannon) was what officially sold him. He thought it was one of the funniest stories he'd ever heard and it was and still is hilarious to this day, IMO. He used to be a huge Cassel apologist, which made me pissed off that I pushed the Chiefs on him, but finally....after the Chargers game, he decided that Cassel is horrible. That took way too freaking long. At first I was like, "YES, a CHIEFS fan (there aren't an abundance of them in my area) Finally someone who I can talk Chiefs football with." Then when he wouldn't hop off the Cassel-wagon, I was like, "UGH, I brought more stupidity to the fanbase and now I refuse to talk to this dude about Chiefs football."

Except that the People article was a mistake. They liked the name Elvis Grbac but thought they were getting Rich Gannon. True story.
