If a candidate did any of those things, it would be fairly obvious, and his opponent would strike back.

The moderator is not a judge of the debate. His job is to keep the rowboat moving down the river and to not let it get stunk in the embankment.

What's your take on follow-up questions in the event of a candidate being dishonest, incorrect, or ridiculously vague?

It's not always fairly obvious. You can't ask Americans to remember the phrases the President used the day after the Benghazi attacks.

But you can expect Obama to defend himself and then have Americans who care look it up (or watch five seconds of coverage later as they will be talking about it). It's not a moderator's place to say that one candidate is lying.

But Candy Crowley did not remind viewers of what was said...she attempted to interpret the remarks in a way to benefit the President. She later admitted "Romney was right in the main".

This is the age of the internet, Americans are perfectly capable of looking up the text of what the President said on that day. Google search would take less 30 seconds, if you included the time spent typing the search in.

Researching what is said in a debate is the responsibility of the voter. The moderator interjecting with a biased statement has no place.

So in other words, instead of Crowley saying "he did, in fact, refer to acts of terror the next day in the Rose Garden," you would prefer her saying "are you aware the President referred to acts of terror the next day in the Rose Garden?"

No, dumbass.

She would still be fact checking him you ****ing moron. I've clearly stated my opinion that she was doing the job of Obama and not hers.

Only a fraction of the people do that. Most people watch the debates, maybe watch a news story on it later, and move on.

What's the difference between having a person look up the lies after the debates, and having a moderator point it out during a debate? Other than of course, more people will notice it when the moderator does it than they will look it up on their own.

So, no follow up questions?

Or only certain kinds of follow up questions are allowed?

What follow up questions are you comfortable with?

Follow up question: "President Obama, your response?"

Crowley didn't butt in, she was asked to check the transcript. Romney made a mistake, he got bogged down on one phrase, and it turned out he was wrong. Obama asked for a ruling and got one. She wasn't trying to help him. Obama asked did I say that? The answer was yes.

Crowley was not pointing out a lie, she was interjecting her bias.

Voters have a personal responsibility to do research on who they vote for. As most on the left typically you do, you do not want to hold the voter accountable for their personal responsibility, you want to spoon feed them.

Crowley steps out of bounds in her moderation of the debate. So much so, that I doubt we will ever see her moderate another debate at the Presidential level.
