"We can't kill ourselves out of this mess."

Was it just me, or did Mitt Romney say something brilliant and prescient?

****ing applause for the man. Easily his wisest line of the entire election season.

Not even kidding.

Mitt Romney, talking about the war on terror, just rejected every ounce of neoconservativism, drone-reliant warfare of civilian casualties to kill battle-aged men in countries full of brown people.

This is something foreign policy doves have been saying since the turn of the millenia. To defeat terrorism, it is not enough to simply murder a requisite number of bad guys.

You've got to exercise a foreign policy that doesn't unnecessarily incite hatred in foreign countries, and turn down the heat on all the rhetoric and much of the unnecessary, counterproductive behavior that feeds recruitment for these foreign countries.

I think this was the best line of the debate. Bar none. And it's something that's been long overdue out of the mouth of a national-level Republican.

I think Obama won the debate and all that jazz, but credit where it's due. Romney found a winner of a line and an idea. I hope it finds a way to spread.

Some terrorists should be killed (or otherwise removed from society permanently). Both Romney and any prominent neocon would agree on that. Obama would too as his ongoing drone campaign demonstrates. For those cases, killing is "the #1 way" as you put it.

In other cases, other methods are preferred. See the Bush administrations work with the Sunnis of Anbar as an example.

While lethal force continues to be necessary, it's never been the only or even the most important facet of our GWoT. The most important part has always been changing the culture enough to marginalize militant radical Islamists and to give the Muslim population a peaceful and prosperous alternative. That's what Iraq was about.

No, you're definitely a monumental moron for this specific reason. But I'm sure you're a decent guy when you aren't being so bone-headed.

and their influence is spreading.

So to proclaim Egypt as a moderate nation at this point is absurd.

palestinians exist and their concerns must be addressed in order to achieve lasting peace...

just as israeli concerns must be addressed to reach an overall settlement...
the refugees were from Jordan, yes...Arafat and King Hussein both claimed Palestine was Jordan.

We had this discussion about a year ago.

Palestine as a geographical term? From Philistia, named by a Roman emporer to add insult and injury to the Jews.
Palestine as an anthropological term? an ethnic Philistine was Greek. They haven't existed for over 2500 years.
Palestine as a theological term? Judeo/Christian. Islam is not a Palestinian theology.

It's sad when you think how the Jews have attmepted to cooperate, yet to no avail...it's also tragic that Arafat, an Eygyptian, squandered millions sent to him from Europe to help the Jordanian refugees, and then magically created Palestinians, and blamed the Jews....don't you find it odd that they now are surrounded by billions of dollars, yet live in poverty?

So maybe you should shut the **** up and read a book before you open that gas bag and make yourself look like even more of a ****ing retard, sir.

I agree with you here, but not your other stupid ass posts. They have had decades....and they can't get their shit together. (But that doesn't mean they have LOST their right to get their shit together some day)

Totally Agreed there....

See, when you say something that isn't ****ing retarded I will agree with you no problem.

Nah.

I agree with you in that seemingly at least until the MB collectively denounces the Hamas Charter of 1988, that we MUST assume that they also are bent on the destruction of Israel.

I agree with you that if they try, it will be their downfall.

But I don't see Israel trying to occupy any additional land, especially within Egypt's current borders.

edit: In fact I find it HIGHLY more likely that the MB will denounce the Hamas charter or break relations with Hamas, then Israel taking land from Egypt.

Well sorry to burst your bubble but a dumb ass who doesn't know a Philistene from a Palestinian probably needs all the help he can get.

You do more harm than good with your moronic, ignorant bible quoting.

You think you are smart, and somehow your bible knowledge is helping prove some point, but in reality all you are is a small minded troll coming up with vague one-liners which only serve to demonstrate your stupidity while doing NOTHING to offer any insight or solutions to any of the problems being discussed.

Of course he wouldn't. It is Hypocrisy plain and simple. No one can look at the Hamas charter, then read the news TODAY (unprovoked) that Hamas is firing dozens rockets into Israel indiscriminately hitting farms and houses TODAY (unprovoked) and not connect the dots...

..is that supposed to hurt?

btw, it's Philistine, dipshit...the only leg the arabs have to stand on is the geographical term..I've already said statehood will be accomplished in the near future...
