Personally I do not like it. Call me old school, but voting should start when the campaigning is done .

I hate early voting. It's yet another form of incumbent protection.

Funyuns. And I know this because I worked at Frito-Lay in Topeka, KS. for 14 years. The first 2 years I worked in environmental services. I had to clean that fryer on the weekends. Holy shit, never thought I'd get the smell of that fryer off me.

I'd come home from work and have to take my clothes off in the garage. My dogs would shred those uniform shirts if I left them on the floor. Great times as a 20 something.

Cool, let's stop early and absentee voting then, but let's make sure that we have the exact same ratio of voting staff/machines in urban areas as rural then.

PS: "Oh, you work 12 hours on Tuesday and don't want to wait another hour or two to vote? Tough."

Why not ? A time frame of 2 to 3 days voting is just as or more secure than 2 weeks of prior voting.

Because campaigns don't stop until the final day of voting. There's no such thing as late voting. As soon as you allow late voting for a few days after election day, the campaigns will extend their campaigns for a few days. If you don't like early voting, you shouldn't be proposing late voting because they're pretty much the same thing.

And there is no way to make the campaigning stop one day and then let the public vote on a smaller window than giving them 2 weeks to throw the polls ?

I don't buy into that.

It's no problem really. You just have to eliminate freedom of speech. That way those pesky campaigners won't be able to campaign past the arbitrary dead line.

It's the only real reason I could see it. Now could there be a 3 - 5 grace period ?

Probably not.

Don't forget those that have literally tens of thousands of posts on internet bulletin boards and can't pry themselves (and their Cheetos stained fingers) away from their keyboards long enough to stand in line like regular working folk.

You have to understand, the vast majority of America has already made up their mind. This line of thinking promotes a knee jerk reaction to one situation rather than an accumulation of facts. IMO, that's not the best way to come to an intelligent solution.

The only major thing that advance voting has an effect on is voter turnout. Regardless of who wins, I would hope that we all want a great turnout.

I'd just like to point out that that is stupid.
